Originally, Riner's opened as a fresh market, with fresh fruits and vegetables picked up in Dallas and delivered to my market in Pottsboro, Texas. Pottsboro is a small town on Lake Texoma. We are near the Texas-Oklahoma border, not far from the Red River on the South Bank. The bad drought adversely affected the fresh veggies market and it became difficult to keep anything "fresh" in that 100 degree heat. So, I decided to "re-tool" and meld together some things I have been working on for about 40 years...my love of handmade crafts and my love of vintage & antiques treasures! I am an artist, as many in my family are. My brother drew cartoons and was a Chef. My mother, aunts and grandmothers were all crafty with their gardens, crochet and knitting needles, wall papering, upholstery, furniture painting. I love all of those and more! I make "Karen's Kupz" and tea cup bird feeders and re-purposed items like lamp bird baths. My sister Sarah paints in Vermont and has her own website. Carla is the artist behind the cottage crafts of wooden signs and beautiful tile works and Ron concentrates on keeping my store filled with beautiful vintage and antique items as my "Finder" !
