River Farm sits on the sunny bank of the Narrow River in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. It is home to a flock of Merino sheep, whose wool ranges from pure white to chocolate brown. They follow a rotational grazing cycle in the pastures along the river, protected by solar powered fencing and Remy, their companion and guardian dog.
We are always striving for the highest quality Merino wool through the care, nutrition, and breeding of our sheep. All of our wool is tested and currently our fleeces range from 20.3 to 23.4 microns. The wool is washed and spun following organic processing standards at Still River Mill, allowing its soft feel and natural richness of color to shine. The weaving is performed at Bedfellows Blankets, and knitted items are handmade at the farm. Our Merino flock is ADMRA certified, and we are a member of the RI Sheep Cooperative.
River Farm is home to several hives of bees who make our all-natural, filtered honey. No pesticides or medications are used in our hive management, letting the pure flavor of the honey pervade. The bees forage among the lavender field, herbs, and wildflowers to create honey with a floral flavor hinting at lavender and mint.
