*** Please note that I never offer delivery date guarantees, as I have no way of controlling the speed of the mail after a package has been shipped and delays are always a possibility. Please be sure to place your order well before the date you need your items by!***

I sell handmade watercolor paint and sometimes art, Please take your time and look around, and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments you may have.

*I restock often! I usually list one item at a time on Etsy due to the fact that the paint is made in small batches and I am better able to keep track of my stock that way, but I try to re-list quickly! Please contact me if I am out of an item you want for an ETA on when it will be restocked, Thank you!

Please remember to read my shop's policies and FAQ before placing your order.

Just to make my customers aware, Etsy has recently changed the convo system to look more like a chat. It is not a live chat however, and I am not always available. I will see your message the next time I check my notifications and will respond as soon as possible, thank you for your patience!

I don't accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations, but please contact me if you have any problems with your order so I can help you!

Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding major and postal holidays.

I am not taking custom orders at this time, sorry!

Thank you for looking!

About RivervaleWatercolor

Why I Started Rivervale Watercolor

I've always loved making things. I would frequently search for crafting books I hadn't read yet or surf the net looking for new skills to learn. I've never felt right with idle hands. When doing activities like listening to music or watching tv, I usually have something to work on, even if it's only crocheting a strip of lace border, or molding a bead out of clay.

The fun of it for me has always been the creative process, even more so than having a finished item. The ability to turn an idea into something real and tangible fascinates me, and I get a real sense of accomplishment out of completing a project.

Over time, I have gained enough skill in some of my favorite crafts to make items I think other people would enjoy. Selling them here at Rivervale gives me both an outlet for the products of my creativity and the funds that allow me to continue pursuing my interests and refining my skills.

I praise God everyday for the ability and opportunity He has given me to be creative, and for all the wonderful things in the world He made to enjoy and explore!

Welcome to Rivervale Watercolor!

Please take your time and look around, and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments you may have!

Please remember to read my shop's policies and FAQS before placing your order, and be sure to read all information and look at all photos present in any listing before buying, thank you!

If you cannot find a particular color listed individually in my shop, that means it is out of stock at the moment. I am always working to keep my shop stocked though, so it should return shortly! If you need pigment information or color details on an out of stock color in the meantime, please feel free to contact me and I'll gladly get that information to you.

Please be aware that Etsy has changed the Convo system recently to appear more like a chat for customer. However, it is not a live chat and I am not always available. I'm sorry for any confusion that results from this! I will see your messages when I check my notifications, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding major and postal holidays.

Thank you for looking!

(I feel the need to add here: my policies have to be legally unambiguous and aim to cover every situation, but I realize they may make me seem rather harsh with such straightforward language. I'm usually very willing to work with my customers where possible, so please, don't hesitate to contact me!)

Accepted payment methods

Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Returns and exchanges
I don't accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
Returns and exchange details
In case of a problem with your order:
---------------------------------

If you have a problem, please contact me immediately so I can help you. If your order doesn't arrive, arrives damaged or you feel it was severely misrepresented, you may receive a replacement, refund, or store credit, depending on the details of the situation.

If you receive a damaged item, please keep all the packaging! Photographs of the damage to the item and the packaging will likely be required in order to file an insurance claim.

You may be required to cooperate with myself, the shipping service, the insurance provider, and rarely law enforcement to resolve any shipping or insurance issues.

The buyer has 7 days after receiving their item to contact me with any problems. A detailed description of the issue must be sent to me with photographic evidence. If I accept the return, the item must be returned within 14 days in the condition it was received. If the fault for the problem was mine, I will pay for the return shipping through USPS, but in other situations the buyer may be required to assume responsibility for shipping fees depending on the reason for the return.

I do not accept unauthorized returns under any circumstances. Unauthorized returns (Mail deliberately returned to sender, or mailed back without prior agreement to accept a return) will either be refused if possible or held for a period of 30 days, during which they may be shipped back out at the buyer's expense. After 30 days has elapsed, the items will be considered abandoned and disposed of.

I do my best to accurately represent my items, but other computer monitors may display colors differently. The color of the actual item may differ slightly from the color you see on your screen.

Items may not be exchanged, returned or payment refunded due to negligence on the buyer's part to read the information presented in the listings or my shop policies.

On rare occasions (and purely at my own discretion) I may choose to permit a return for a reason where I am not at fault. If I choose to allow a return of this nature, the buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. I do require a tracking number, and I highly suggest insurance. The refund on such a return will be minus the shipping and handling costs, and that includes orders with free shipping as well.

If an item is not returned in the original condition it was received, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.

Please make sure you have opted in to receive email notification of Etsy convos, if there are any problems with your order and communication between us is necessary, you don't want to miss an important message! I never use the convo system to advertise or spam.
Payment
All payments made to this shop go through Etsy's payment system. If you are having any kind of issue with payment please contact Etsy for help.

If you are buying multiple items, please add them to your cart before purchase in order to receive combined shipping.

I can't ship your item until I receive payment. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the shipping address given to me is correct, so please double check before confirming an order. In the case of custom or reserved orders, payment must be made within 7 days of the notification that the listing is ready for purchase, or by a previously agreed upon date.

Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
Shipping
Processing time:

The time I need to prepare an order for shipping varies. For details, see individual items.

Customs and import taxes:

Buyers are responsible for any duties, taxes or customs fees that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs. Buyers are responsible for knowing what can and cannot be shipped to their country.

Orders can't be cancelled once shipped. I ship to the address given through the order process. If an address change is needed, please send me a message immediately and I will accommodate if possible, providing your order has not shipped yet. Depending on the value of your order, I may require a cancellation and you may then re-order with the correct address. If a package is returned to me by the post office due to customer fault, the customer is responsible for the shipping cost to have it re-sent.

I ship using USPS First Class or Priority Mail based on package weight. I do not guarantee delivery times for any reason, or refund due to delays. Please make your order well before the date you need it by. Etsy or USPS may give you an estimated delivery date, please keep in mind this is just an estimate and delays may occur regardless of the shipping method.

I cannot take responsibility for lost or stolen items once they have already been delivered. It is the buyer's responsibility to ensure that they have their mail delivered to a safe location, and responsibility for an order passes to the buyer on delivery at the supplied address. If you will not be home during the time your mail is usually delivered, you might consider having your mail delivered to your workplace (if safer) or acquiring a mail locker or P.O. box.

I highly suggest signing up for USPS text or email tracking updates, it's easy to do from the USPS website tracking page and will allow you to keep an eye on the progress of your package!

Sometimes, rarely, mail gets lost during transit or is misdelivered. If after a reasonable amount of time after the shipping date you have not received your order and the tracking isn't moving, (most mail is delivered within two weeks in the USA, although there are occasional exceptions,) Please contact me, I will gladly help! I may require your cooperation depending on the circumstances, the first step is to attempt to find and recover the missing package, and resolving these situations sometimes takes the effort of both sender and receiver.

In such a situation, there are some things you can do on your end: go to or contact the local office of your carrier, give them your tracking number and ask what they can tell you. They may be able to find out where your package is, and get it moving again if it was mislaid or lost on a mail truck. If your tracking says delivered but your package does not appear to have been, please don't despair immediately! Check thoroughly in and around your mailbox, porch, or usual delivery area, as well as all entrances to your home, sometimes mail is left in strange places or is blown away from its original location by the wind. Check with your apartment office if you have one, ask any other residents of your house if they have seen your mail, and check with your neighbors. I also suggest waiting one to two business days, sometimes when this happens the postman has marked it delivered erroneously and the package ends up being delivered within the next day or so. If that turns up nothing, most mail delivery these days does use GPS location data to show very accurately where the item was delivered, I can call the post office to obtain this information and gain more insight into exactly what's happened.

I use Etsy labels the majority of the time, which may create an automated shipping email when the label is purchased rather than when I actually drop the package off with USPS. I have no control over this, sorry! Once your package is shipped, please allow 24 hours for tracking to reflect accurate information, it takes some time to get into the USPS system. Additionally, sometimes Etsy's tracking display is delayed, so I highly suggest clicking all the way through to the USPS tracking page to get the most accurate information about status of your package.

A signature may be required on delivery, especially on higher value orders.

I don't offer gift wrap or gift messages, sorry!

I am unable to ship internationally at this time, and I cannot make exceptions, I apologize. I do not do business out of my own country, so if you intend to use a forwarding service please understand that my shop's protections do not cover that and my responsibility ends once a package has been delivered to the address provided on the order.

My packaging is practical and plain, I do sometimes recycle packing supplies where possible, but I make sure they are always sturdy and clean when I do.
Additional policies and FAQs
Watercolor Care:
---------------------------------

. Pre-wet your watercolors with a drop of water a few moments before using for best results.

. My recipe is formulated with honey, which greatly benefits the workability and smoothness of my colors. Honey is a natural humectant, it draws in and retains moisture which often causes colors to remain tacky in the pan rather than ever fully drying. Your paint may become slightly stickier or drier depending on either humidity or heat and may even crack a little on top. This is expected behavior and will not affect the usefulness of your paints.

Some colors are more prone to changes in the weather than others. Allow to dry completely after using to prevent mold, and store in a cool dry place out of reach of children or animals.

. Do not expose your paints to extreme conditions.

. Display finished paintings appropriately regardless of material quality or rating. Display out of direct light, and use acid free paper and UV protective glass or spray if possible. I base my pigment information and lightfastness estimations off of both the pigment manufacturer's ratings and my own tests. While I do my best to be as accurate as possible in my descriptions with the information available to me, I can never make absolute guarantees.

. Keep the plastic shield and padding in place while traveling with your watercolor tins to protect them.

Sizing and Ingredient details
---------------------------------

Please look carefully at the measurements and material information on a listed item, so you will be well informed before making your purchase. Measurements are taken across the widest points of an item.

All of my items are handmade, and no two will be exactly the same. Please keep in mind that there will be slight variances in each piece.

Handmade paints are a very different experience compared to commercial watercolors. Each pigment has it's own unique properties, and not every color will be the right fit for every artist. Natural pigments in particular vary greatly in texture and handling properties, some are smooth, others have a lot more texture, some tint strongly and have a great range of value, while others are very delicate with a low value range and need to be built up slowly on the page. Some wet and and flow easily, others require pre-wetting for best results and may need the addition of oxgall or another dispersant if you desire them to flow freely on the page. My paints may vary slightly in color from batch to batch, especially pigments from natural sources. Please consider what sort of artwork you will be creating when choosing the colors you use.

Most pigments used are considered non-toxic or of low toxicity, but some pigments are toxic and should be handled with caution. Most have no known safety hazards in watercolor form when used as directed, but nevertheless should not be ingested or used as body paint, and should still be kept away from young children and animals.

Those considered toxic will have that information available in the listing. Don't eat or drink while painting, and be sure to wash your hands after. Don't use if you have an allergy to clove oil, gum arabic, glycerin, honey, Cap-5 broad spectrum preservative, or the listed pigment.

My home is smoke-free. I do own cats, they aren't allowed contact with my paints and I am as clean as possible, but I can't guarantee absolute safety for those with cat allergies.

In no event shall Rivervale Watercolor be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special consequential damages, to property or life, whatsoever arising out of or connected with the use or misuse of any of my products.

Site Problems:
---------------------------------

Etsy as a platform has an unfortunate habit of implementing features and running tests without any notice to shop owners or adequate explanation for customers, and does not do enough testing to ensure they will be bug free.

As a seller, I unfortunately have no control over this, and may not be aware of any issues until a problem arises. If you don't understand something, please let me know! I may be able to better explain some of the possibly confusing site options or features to you, and if it's a bug, I can report it to Etsy. If erroneous information is presented as a result of Etsy's testing without my permission or knowledge, I will explain the issue and cancel and refund your order if the situation requires, but I will not be required to honor Etsy's mistakes.

Etsy also sometimes sends emails requesting reviews for an item or advertising a sale, etc. These are not from me, they're automated emails sent out by Etsy and unfortunately I cannot stop them. I understand that they may be unwanted, I apologize and I assure you if I was able to turn them off I would!

Choosing the "gift" option for an order at checkout will mean the packing slip will print without visible prices, like a gift receipt.

If you shop on Etsy using the mobile app, be sure you are updated to the latest version in order to be sure all features are working correctly.

Right to refuse business and Artist's personal affiliations:
---------------------------------

As a private artist, I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. In the rare event this happens, you will receive a full refund (if payment has already been made at the time) and the sale will be cancelled.

Outright rude, abusive or dishonest behavior will result in a permanent ban from my shop on the first offense.

Communication is very important to me, and I do my absolute best to respond to my customers in a timely manner. Please be aware that I may be reluctant to accept custom work or offer special courtesies like item reservations again if, in previous interactions, communication on the customer's side has been inadequate, rude, or set deadlines have been missed without notice or reasonable explanation.

Please use Etsy's built-in messaging system for all shop-related communication, it protects us both in case of any issues and is the fastest way to contact me.

I operate and sell in the USA, and abide by the laws of the USA. I do not agree to make international sales, provide service to international customers once my items have left my country or abide by consumer laws from a country other than my own. If a forwarding service or other method is used to bypass this restriction, it is done at your own risk.

By commissioning or purchasing an item from me, you agree to abide by the policies listed above.

Artist's personal affiliations:
---------------------------------
