On Etsy since 2015

We grew up in very different regions of the United States (Rob in Tidewater, Virginia, and Joseph in El Paso, Texas.) Fortunately, life has brought us to an idyllic location on the banks of the York River, where our guests may be seated in a 1730's chair while sipping a cocktail from a 1930's glass.

Our home, Riverwood Cottage, is decorated with a unique blend of antiques and collectibles that span the past 300 years. We love to pair treasured, centuries-old family heirlooms with kitschy castoffs to create inviting, comfortable spaces that tell stories. Our style can definitely be described as traditional with a twist.

Our shop reflects our wide range of personal interests and tastes. Our combined experiences in education and retail, coupled with our diverse cultural backgrounds, provide a unique perspective and a knack for locating fun, interesting, reasonably priced treasures.
Welcome to Riverwood Cottage; Come in, relax, and enjoy shopping.

Etsy charges and collects sales tax for all applicable states.

WE DON'T TYPICALLY ACCEPT RETURNS...BUT HERE IS OUR POLICY. The customer MUST notify us if they are interested in returning the item. We must agree to accept the return. The customer is responsible for returning the item to us in its original condition, and the shipping cost and insurance (if applicable) are the sender's responsibility. There is a 25% restocking fee of the total original cost for the accepted return. A refund will be issued within three business days after receiving the item in the same condition it was sent.

Shipping information
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS IS CORRECT. WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHANGING THE ADDRESS BEFORE SHIPPING. If an incorrect shipping address is used and the package is returned to us; there are two options for the customer: 1-The Etsy customer can pay Riverwood Cottage to have the package shipped back to them, or 2-The Esty customer can opt not to have the item sent to them and receive a partial refund (80% of the merchandise price-20% restock/return fee) of ONLY the merchandise.

All of the items that we ship using USPS Priority Mail are automatically insured for $100. If the value of the item you have ordered from us is more than $100 (including shipping), we will insure it for that value.

Items we sell that are shipped via USPS First Class Mail are automatically insured for $50.

Items we sell that are shipped via USPS Media Mail will be insured at our discretion depending on the value.

To protect the buyer and the seller in a transaction, we will add signature confirmation at our discretion and expense.

SHIPPING OVERAGES WILL BE REFUNDED if over $1 the listed price. Multi-item purchases will be packed and shipped together if it is the safest and most affordable option.
We understand that many of the items we sell may not be expensive or valuable, but they are also not easily replaceable. With this said, we package our items with great care.
Depending on an item's size and fragility, we will often double box our products for shipment. We use bubble wrap and air pillows to cushion your precious purchase. There is nothing much more disappointing than having an item break during transit. As mentioned before, it may not have been expensive, but it's not easily replaceable.

On the slim chance that an item is damaged during transit, here are the steps that the customer needs to take to file a claim for the item.

Filing Domestic Claims
What do you need to file a domestic claim?
A Tracking or Label Number
The tracking or label number is found on your online label record, package label, mailing receipt, or sales receipt. Tracking and label numbers are between 13 and 34 characters.
Example: 9205 5000 0000 0000 0000 00
If you don't see a number like that, look for a string of 20, 22, 26, 30, or 34 numbers.

Proof of Value
Proof of value can include:
A sales receipt
A paid invoice or paid bill of sale
Statement of value and/or estimates of repair costs from a reputable dealer
A credit card billing statement
Receipt of costs incurred for the reconstruction of non-negotiable documents
Printouts of the online transaction identifying the purchaser and seller, the price paid, date of transaction, description of the item purchased, and assurance that the transaction status is completed.
Evidence of Insurance Purchased
Evidence of insurance includes:
The original mailing receipt issued at the time of mailing
The outer packaging showing the names and addresses of the sender and the addressee and the proper label showing that the article was sent insured
A printed, electronic online label record or a computer printout from the application used to print the label and purchase the insurance.

Proof of Damage
Photos that clearly show the extent of damage will help with your case. For damaged claims, you’ll also need to provide an estimate of the repair costs from a reputable dealer.
If you received something damaged, please hang onto the original packaging and the damaged item until your claim is settled. You may be asked to take them to your local Post Office™ for inspection later. Please do not reship the package.

When can I file a claim?
We recommend filing a claim immediately for damaged or missing contents, but you must file no later than 60 days from the date of mailing.
