5 out of 5 starsIt was challenging to get the details right, but fun! My 8yr-old son and I each made one - he didn't want to glue, so his is a little flat - his model, his choices. Still proud of it. Nice family time!

5 out of 5 starsThese earplugs just arrived today in little plastic cases for each of the two pairs. The colors are gorgeous in person and the plastic itself is smooth and appears to be very durable. I haven’t tried them, since I got these so I can give them to students if I notice they are in sensory overload, having difficulty focusing, etc; because I had to manually plug my ears with my fingers to be able to complete the mandatory NWEA tests as a child, and it was not fun… especially when your ears go numb. Maybe these will help someone avoid having to do that.

Pruning the Paper to Shape Its Growth
I've loved Origami for as long as I remember - I read through all the Los Angeles Library's origami books by 10 years old. I handed out paper cranes while taking the bus, and dreamed of becoming a famous artist in my own right. I've found what really stoked my creativity, however, is breaking the rules.
I consider what I do Kirigami "cutting paper" as opposed to papercraft, which is commonly computer calculated polygon puzzles. Kirigami breaks the rules of Origami by allowing multiple sheets of paper, gluing, and cuts. This most often shows up as pop-up cards or paper snowflakes. When I design a model, I cut away all that in unnecessary while keeping what is essential, like writing a story or pruning a bonsai tree.
My first series of models has been insects in honor of my favorite origami artist Dr. Robert J. Lang who is known for his intricate models. In Origami, insects are the hardest to design thanks to their complicated forms. However, insects in Kirigami play to its strengths by being stable, angular, and intricate.
I have many more plans to expand my craft, including more kits (next up: amphibians, reptiles, and birds), paper toys, pop-up cards, and jewelry. Thank you so much for your support, there is so much more for us to explore!

I am an artist and biologist. With my Cricut machine, I can bring my ideas to life and share them. Without it, my nerve damage would likely prevent me from getting half as far. I hope I can use my art to support wildlife causes and my bio career.

Frequently asked questions
What minimum age are these projects recommended for?
12+ years old alone, younger with supervision. Although, if they really love complicated models like I did at 9-10 years old, let them have a go at it!
Care instructions
I really recommend spraying completed models with 1-2 coats of an acrylic sealer, like Kryon Crystal Clear. Other than that, just avoid squishing them.
Wholesale availability
Yes, these are available for wholesale. Please contact me at roarincreations@gmail.com to discuss the details.
Custom and personalized orders
For most of my models asking for a color swap is fine, and I'll do my best to match it. If the material is harder to obtain, if there's a design modification, or if you need it a different size, then I'll send you a quote.
