Announcement
Rochester Pollinators, a Michigan nonprofit, offers free shipping with a purchase of $35 or more. All orders get mailed out fast--in 1-3 days! With your order, you are helping contribute to our mission of saving the Monarch butterfly and other pollinators!
Your purchase today will help us save our pollinators (like the Monarch butterfly) by planting more swamp milkweed, butterfly milkweed, and other native Michigan plants in and around the city of Rochester, Michigan. You will also help us promote and advocate for conservation and sustainability at local and regional events within the state of Michigan.
The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) has twice named Rochester, Michigan as a Monarch Champion for its commitment to native habitat restoration, community education and encouraging citizen engagement to support the needs of the threatened monarch butterfly. Rochester is one of a few cities in the United States that were given this designation for 2022 and 2023 after fulfilling at least 24 different action items for the Mayors Monarch Pledge.
OUR MISSION
Rochester Pollinators mission is to provide education and resources to preserve the Monarch butterfly and pollinator population. By reintroducing Michigan native plants into local landscapes including home gardens, businesses and municipal landscapes, we can help our local pollinators flourish!
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? WE ARE LOSING OUR VALUABLE POLLINATORS.
Butterflies and other pollinators have experienced significant declines across the globe. The Monarch butterfly population alone has decreased up to 75%–90% depending upon the year.
WHY SAVE THE POLLINATORS? ONE-THIRD OF OUR FOOD SUPPLY IS DEPENDENT UPON POLLINATION!
Many of our favorite foods such as chocolate, coffee, apples, avocados, cherries, almonds, blueberries, lemons and much more are made possible by insects. If they were to disappear foods would become rare and expensive.
WHAT WOULD WE MISS?
Nearly 90% of all flowering plants, including many fruit and 1/3 of our vegetable crops, benefit from pollinators. This means that most of our favorite foods would either totally disappear or be extremely rare and expensive.
