Rollerprint Patterns™ are paper that has been engraved/cut by a laser to produce low relief textures and designs. They are designed for use with a rolling mill to impart the design/texture onto soft sheet metal. The paper patterns can also be used to create a surface texture on other mediums such as metal clay.

The question “Where do you get your patterns?” comes up often. Our patterns start out as drawings, photographs, antique engravings, clip art, computer generated and public domain images. One thing that is very important to us is respecting the copyright of other artists. Therefore, if you ask us to create a custom pattern, we will ask that you certify that you have the rights to use any image submitted to us.

Because these patterns are sold as one time use when used with sheet metal, we also get the question “Why would I buy something I can only use one time?” - so let’s talk about that:
•Paper patterns offer an economical alternative for imparting texture or pattern to your work. At 36¢ per square inch, these patterns add minimal cost to total fabrication costs. And with a bit of practice, it is possible to re-use the patterns...as many as 3-5 times. However they are paper and and they are sold as one-time use.

•Paper patterns offer makers a wide variety of textures. Unlike metal patterns, a single paper pattern can be easily cut into pieces and used for multiple projects. For the cost of ONE metal patterns, a huge selection of paper patterns can be purchased.
RMR patterns can be easily modified, an option not available with metal textures. If you like just one section of the pattern, we can modify the existing pattern to be just the desired section; patterns can be reduced or enlarged; patterns can be reversed or inverted – you can make the pattern your own! We do not charge for modifying existing patterns – the cost of the modified pattern is the same 36¢ per square inch.

•Paper has a uniform thickness. More nontraditional choices for texturing, like fabric, lace and leaves, have variations in thickness which can affect the quality of the print transfer. This can lead to unpredictable results and wasting of materials and time. The uniformity of paper patterns leads t o more predictable results and reduces wasting of time and materials.

•The cost for shipping paper is much lower than the cost of shipping metal – an especially important consideration for international purchasers.
