About

Fabrics With Personality

I have always enjoyed designing fabrics and clothing. I started out drawing on fabrics with fabric pens then moved onto buying in the coolest quirkiest fabrics I could . Now I prefer to design my own fabrics on my lovely computer
I have been featured in quite a few magazines and newspapers and even spent a days filming Dragons Den! Which is a show about entrepreneurs here in the Uk.
When I started me and my kids were pretty much homeless in a caravan. Id been recently widowed and things really couldn't get any worse.
As things have expanded I have found local ladies who now help me with my work load.
Now I have a fantastic small group of machinists who all work from home working on new designs for me which frees up my time to work on new fabric ideas I have.
All of my homeworkers are mature ladies who have many years of sewing experience. They pick up the work from me on a weekly basis and all sew from their own homes.
All of my manufacturing and printing is done in the UK. We have such a rich supply of talented machinists right here on our own shores, I just can't justify having my items mass produced over seas. For me its more important that I keep the work close to home, even if it means I can't compete on price or grow as big as some brands.
My dresses are now made in a small family run factory in the UK. They work along side me and my team of homeworkers to support the production of Rooby Lane garments.
I like to think that my items are born in love and made in love.. then eventually worn with love!
