Announcement   This shop contains some ORIGINAL watercolor paintings of flowers and sentimental themes, plus PRINTS of some of my original watercolors. I've been in love with watercolors from the time I could pick up a paintbrush. I guess you'd say I'm an "impressionist" painter. I don't want to create a photograph. I want to create a feeling, something that evokes a gentle memory of something you have loved and enjoyed. Something small and quiet and genuine. I usually paint in a very soft, pastel palette. I do not paint custom orders. I ship to US locations only.

Purchased this for my laundry room. I absolutely love it! It brings me joy when I look at it--thinking about the days when hanging sheets on the line was the preferred alternative! So very nicely done! Evokes wonderful memories!

About

Stop and Smell the Roses

I began drawing things when I was very young. I can vividly remember the excitement of getting a new little pad of note paper to draw on. Those were little 2"x3" pads of pink newsprint from the dime store, but I was so happy with them. Then about 40 years ago I discovered watercolors, and since then it's been an irrisistable urge. I guess you'd say I'm an "impressionist" painter. I don't want to create an exact copy. I want to create a feeling, something that evokes a gentle memory of something you have loved and enjoyed. Something small and quiet and simple and genuine and ordinary. Something that makes you stop and smell the roses...like your grandmother's clean white sheets, hanging on the clothesline in the sunshine. I usually paint in a very soft, pastel palette - quiet, gentle colors that are easy on the eyes.

I've been in love with watercolors for forty years. No other medium provides the freshness and fluidity that watercolors do.

I've been in love with watercolors for over 40 years. I strive for a fresh, fluid, watery effect, using soft, gentle pastel colors. I want my paintings to generate a memory of something from your past - something small and quiet and genuine - like the memory of white sheets drying on an old rope clothesline, or your grandma's garden. I do not paint custom orders.

Shipping
I ship to US locations only. I ship by regular USPS First Class or Priority, depending on the size and weight and value of the package. I do not offer expedited shipping. I do not paint special orders or commissions.

Re Shipping Address: Paypal, Etsy and the credit card companies all have policies in place that instruct sellers to ship packages only to the "ship to" address used by the buyer during checkout. These policies are designed to protect the buyer and the seller from possible identity theft. Shipping to a different address would void the buyer protection and seller protection offered by Paypal and the credit card companies and might also void shipping insurance. Please make sure you choose the correct shipping address during checkout, so that we can preserve all the buyer and seller protections available. If you accidentally select the wrong shipping address, please contact me and I can help correct the error.

Re Shipping Charges: My shipping charges include my best estimate for the probable final cost of shipping, which is either by USPS First Class Mail or USPS Priority Mail. The quoted cost also includes a small amount to cover shipping supplies, such as shipping envelopes, clear protective envelopes, foamboard protective pieces, wide shipping tape, bubble wrap, plastic sealing bags, etc.

Re Multiple Items: Etsy's current listing process allows sellers to list (1) a shipping price for the first item, and (2) a shipping price for subsequent items. This allows us to "build in" shipping discounts into the checkout process. I make the best estimate I can regarding the shipping costs, but it's impossible to be 100% accurate because the final shipping cost depends on the size and weight of the final completed package, and each ounce of weight can change the final shipping cost. Also, USPS Priority shipping cost can vary widely due to package weight, dimensions, geographical destination, Priority method, etc. Very often my actual shipping costs turn out to be MORE than the amount charged, in which case I absorb the difference.

Re Combined Shipping: As described in the previous paragraph, the Etsy listing process builds in a discounted shipping price for multiple item orders. But when 2 or more items are purchased, I also check to see if any additional shipping discount can be made. This is how I do that: I look for the most economical USPS Priority shipping method, depending on the final size and weight of the order. I pack all the items in one Priority package, if at all possible. When I find out the final Priority shipping cost, I look at the estimated shipping cost that has been collected from the buyer during the checkout process. If the checkout process has collected more shipping money than the actual final Priority cost, I refund the excess shipping money to the buyer, unless the amount is minimal. I process the refund thru Etsy (for credit card orders) or thru Paypal (for Paypal orders). On the other hand, I sometimes find that the shipping costs collected during checkout are less than the final amount needed, when multiple items are purchased. That's because some of my pre-set shipping charges are based on USPS First Class charges for single item shipments. When there are multiple items purchased, I usually have to switch to USPS Priority shipping, which is more expensive. Also, shipping charges for Priority boxes can vary greatly depending on the destination zone. That means my final USPS Priority shipping charge might be higher than the amount Etsy has collected. In that case, I pay the excess shipping cost myself.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please send me an Etsy message immediately, within 24 hours of receipt (on Etsy, a message is called a "convo"). If you ship the item back to me within three business days, in its original condition, I will be happy to issue a refund of the cost of the item by Paypal or your credit card (not including the original shipping charges). The return package must be sent to me using the same shipping method that I originally used (whether it was USPS First Class or Priority), and the item must be carefully sealed in plastic bags and with strong cardboard padding, to prevent damage (the same way that I packed the original package). The return shipping is paid by the purchaser. The item must be returned to me in the exact same condition that it was originally shipped. As soon as it is received by me, I will generate the refund thru Etsy. The package must be mailed to my physical address (NOT to my post office box) - just message me and I will give you the physical address.

Because each of my items is unique, I cannot offer exchanges. Returned items will be refunded (not exchanged).

Damaged Shipment: If your purchase gets damaged during shipping, please contact me immediately by Etsy message (within 24 hours of receipt). Please take multiple photos of both the damaged package and the damaged contents and attach photos to the Etsy message. This is important because I usually insure each package. Also, please keep the damaged packaging and the damaged contents, as these usually have to be submitted to the post office for the insurance claim. Do not ship the damaged item back to me unless I ask you to, as the secondary shipment will void the original insurance claim. The buyer must assist in the insurance claim process in order to receive a refund.

Package Delivery and Security: I always obtain USPS tracking numbers on my shipments, and those are sent to the customer in the Etsy shipment confirmation email. I watch the tracking pages to see when the packages are delivered. But it's the responsibility of the buyer to make sure your shipping address is correct and current whenever you make a purchase, whether it's thru Paypal or your credit card. Most delivery services (including the post office) will leave your package on your front porch if you do not answer your doorbell, so it's very important to make sure you provide a hidden spot where the packages will not be visible from the street - perhaps an area behind a large potted plant or a stack of bricks. Lots of packages are stolen from front porches because they were left in plain sight. If a package is scanned as delivered to a front porch, but then stolen from the porch, the post office will not accept the insurance claim, so the recipient must file a police report instead. If USPS tracking shows that a package has been delivered to your mailbox or porch, but you cannot find it, you can call your local post office and they can check their GPS tracking and tell you the exact address where your package was delivered.
