About

It's all about the horses

Horses have had a profound impact on my life, virtually everything that is good in it came via the equine. Appreciating the here and now through the eyes of a horse, time well spent with great friends, total wilderness immersion during back country camping trips, and the art! The art! If the horse had never entered my life I shudder to think what would have become of me.

Primarily I am a sculptor, but the unexpected death of a close friend spurred me on to finally make time for painting. Another friend of mine showed me the basics of pastels, and allowed me to sit beside her as she skillfully rendered plein air scenes of our majestic southwestern surroundings. As soon as I began I was hooked.

Re-enter the horse :) Growing up in Nevada I have an affinity for the mustang, and some familiarity with their plight. I began a series of mustang portraits from the Bureau of Land Management's online mustang adoption photos, with their permission. The interest in the paintings took me by surprise, and I decided to have prints made and to donate a portion of the proceeds to help the mustangs. Let's see where this goes!
