Jag skapar skulpturer för sådant som är svårt att säga rakt ut. Ibland betyder det sorg. Ibland handlar det om tillit, omsorg, kommunikation, anor eller pressen att försöka vara stark för andra människor.
De första verken började som oskickade brev efter ett uppbrott. Jag förvandlade ursäkt, tacksamhet, sorg och avsked till fysiska former eftersom det vanliga språket inte räckte till. Dessa verk blev till Relationslektioner, en fortlöpande serie om vad människor är skyldiga varandra och vad som krävs för att växa utan att försvinna inuti någon annan.
Teknologi är en del av hur jag tänker. Jag bygger modellerna digitalt och använder 3D-utskrift för att få in dem i rummet, men jag lämnar inte över arbetet. Jag förbereder utskriften, inspekterar ytan, väljer finish och packar varje del i min studio i New Orleans. Maskinen ritar linjen. Jag bestämmer vad den betyder.
Mini-skulpturerna i den här butiken är en väg in i verket. De bär på samma form och historia som de större mästarna i en skala som kan stå på ett skrivbord, en hylla eller ett litet altare. I make sculpture for the things that are hard to say straight. Sometimes that means grief. Sometimes it is trust, care, communication, ancestry, or the pressure of trying to be strong for other people.
The first works began as unsent letters after a breakup. I turned apology, gratitude, grief, and farewell into physical forms because normal language was not doing enough. Those pieces became Relationship Lessons, a continuing series about what people owe one another and what it takes to grow without disappearing inside somebody else.
Technology is part of how I think. I build the models digitally and use 3D printing to bring them into the room, but I do not hand the work off. I prepare the print, inspect the surface, choose the finish, and pack each piece in my New Orleans studio. The machine makes the line. I decide what it means.
