Fiber and Family

Amidst the hustle and bustle of nurturing and growing my fiber art business, I try to balance it with being a full time mom and home educator to two young women. They are my inspiration and one of the main reasons I started my business in the first place.

I'd love to say balance is always easy. It's not. Sometimes the business must be crammed in between school work, ice skating lessons and viola lessons. Or maybe it's a day of working in our large garden. Or canning and making bread. Or tending to our flock of chickens and ducks. And sometimes the kids have to entertain themselves for a bit while I answer e-mails, fill orders, or create new designs. It's not easy, but it is worth it. I get to be home with them, and help nurture their passions.

And they are proud of me too. They get to see that someone can do something they love for a living. They've seen my business grow and my recognition grow. They were proud to see their mom in the paper and in national and international magazines. They've also both helped with various art shows I've been involved with too.

I've been playing with fiber for over 25 years. You will often find me browsing through the aisles and stacks of yarn - touching, feeling and smelling as I go. I love playing with fiber and seeing where new yarns and designs will take me!
