Announcement    The United Maine Craftsmen Virtual Craft Fair may be officially over, but it's still a good time to support your local small business artists! Thank you to everyone who checked out my art and supported Maine crafters!

If you see a piece of my pottery on Facebook, a website, or at a fair that you don't see listed here it may be that I haven't listed it yet, or that it has sold. Some of my patterns I can reproduce easily, though being handmade they won't be exact copies in form or glaze performance. Other techniques like hand-carving, slip-trailing, and sculpting (what I use on my pendants and magnets) create pieces that are celebrated for their uniqueness. Some designs like flowers, bamboo, dragonflies, cattails, and wheat can be repeated in a series with a similar look and feel (the same goes for slip-prints and stamps), but again no two pieces are ever the same.

***With that said, I am ready to work with you on developing a custom pottery order! Message me before 'Requesting' if you see a mug or a dish that you like, but would like to have in a different color, size, thickness, format, or with handle or not. Or if you would like a custom set of magnets, pendants, or ornaments that follows a theme. Right now it will take me a conservative 2-3 months to fulfill an order due to slowed kiln cycles. I am also limited in color pallet to the glazes and under glazes I have, though I can order some specific colors if necessary. I offer a bulk order discount at my discretion for 4+ mugs/dishes, 3+ pendants, 2+ magnet sets (of 4 sm or 2 med/lg magnets), or 4+ ornaments.

About RuAllenClayandCamera

Sales 9
On Etsy since 2020

I'm one of the artists formerly part of Allen & Allen Photo and Craft, and now, after our mutual split, Ru Allen Clay & Camera is my artist business. My mom, Karen Allen, is the other half of Allen & Allen Photo and Craft, and she now owns Peaked Mountain Mandalas which is also on Etsy.

I sell my original stoneware and earthenware pottery and cards and prints of my nature photography from my Maine home studios. I am deeply inspired by the natural world and it manifests in my various pottery styles and photography subject matter.

Custom Pottery Orders
Listings of pottery are of individual, already made items. Some pieces have patterns that are easy for me to replicate or make similar duplicates of. Other techniques - particularly the hand-drawn, slip-trailed, slip-printed, and sculpted - create pieces that are celebrated for their uniqueness. With that said, I am ready to work with you on developing a custom pottery order if you see something listed that you like, but would like to have in a different color, size, thickness, format, or with handle or not. Right now it would take me a conservative 2-3 months to fulfill an order due to slower kiln cycles of the pottery studio whose kiln I share. I am also limited in color pallets to the glazes and under glazes I have, though I can order some specific colors if necessary. I offer a bulk order discount for 4 mugs or more, or 3 pendants or more.

Custom Print Orders
If you are interested in a matted print of a photo in a size you don't see listed, please message me and we can discuss the sizes I can use with that particular photo's best printing limits. I am generally limited to 12" with the size of my printer.

In effort to limit the spread of Covid-19, I will limit any trips to the post office so shipping may take a bit longer than usual. When possible, I will mail items picked up at my home for shipping. I will wash my hands and ware a mask when packaging my work. If after you find your purchase is not what you hoped after having it sit out for a day or two, and you miss the 14 day return time, contact me and I can be flexible about returns. Thank you for supporting artisans and small businesses by shopping online!

The glazes are food safe and lead-free. I fire my white and brown stoneware and buff-colored earthenware to cone 6 with an electric kiln to make a durable pot ready for everyday use. Pieces can be washed in the dishwasher and are microwavable. My pottery is not intended for stove-top or oven use. May you enjoy it for years to come!
