An artist and vintage shopper on a mission.

I have been working in the field of Theater production for the last 27 years and, although I love what I do, as I started getting closer to the age of 50 I started thinking about the fact that if I was going to work 18 hours a day for someone, I wanted that someone to be me!
I feel that I am very good at my job, but it is safe to work for someone else. I needed to branch out and find my voice as an artist to help me become a better designer and a happier person.
I love to go to garage sales and thrift or "junk" stores. You can find amazing things that others have given up on and either give them a new home or a new life as something else. As a kid, I shopped with my family and learned how to refinish old furniture, clean up silver and copper and re-purpose interesting "finds". As an adult, I brought that knowledge to my work with props and set dressing. It seemed like the easiest way to break into an Etsy store for me, was to take that love and share my "finds" with others. Everyone talks about being green, but using the products that we have in new ways is the easiest way to conserve our resources.
As for the paintings in my shop; those right now come from my wonderful friends pushing me to continue painting and sharing my art. I am still trying to find who I am as an artist. It is going to be a fun ride, and I hope all of my new Etsy friends will be patient with me while I find my way!

Welcome to Rue Trouve! I grew up in a house full of history and great “finds”, so when I am not designing and painting, I am out hunting for “finds” to share with you. Most of the vintage items I sell in my shop were made between the 1950's to the mid- 80's. If you ever have any questions about an item please feel free to ask. I am not "all knowing" when it come to vintage items but I will certainly do my best to answer your questions!
