Vintage is my passion

I live in the South West of France. I spent most of my life in cities and towns throughout the UK and now I live in the beautiful French countryside. I am an upholsterer and love to upholster all my vintage chairs and sofas in the lovely French linens and burlap flour sacks that are available here in France. I also restore and sell French furniture, ranging from industrial, retro as well as pretty elegant French renaissance pieces. I may get around to selling some on Etsy one day!

I spend days scouring France for treasure and I never get bored of it. I am passionate about all things vintage, everything from chippy French enamel to French linens and Mid Century Modern. I have a real affinity with the past and love the history or the story behind each item. I am very committed to recycling and try to recycle anything I can, even the old fabric I take from the furniture I restore. Buying vintage of course helps the recycling process.

I grow virtually all my own vegetables and try to preserve them in typical French style for the winter months. My neighbours like to give me lots of tips along the way and their knowledge is always appreciated, even if they don't always agree about the best way to do things! I love all animals but have a terrible fear of rodents which can make life in rural France difficult at times! I try to live a simple organic life with the odd glass of champagne thrown in… a girl must have some glamour in her life especially now that I have virtually given up my heels to live in rural France

I have 2 Etsy stores, Rue Vert De Gris and Maintenant. Maintenant was my first store, I opened it when I lived in UK but did not really start selling on Etsy until March 2012. I find myself attracted to all sorts of antique and vintage pieces. I love to think of the history behind a piece and how many people touched, enjoyed, admired or used it. I hope you enjoy my finds. I love to mix styles and often have an eclectic mix of old and new and different eras in my home. I love selling on Etsy and I am very proud to say that some of my finds have been featured in various magazines, BBC Homes and Antiques and Country Living. DPI magazine in Taiwan ran an article in their magazine about my passion for vintage and my Etsy store Maintenant.

If you have time to visit my other shop, Maintenant, it can be found here:

If you can't find exactly what your looking for, please ask, I may already have it but if not I can find it for you.

My passion is collecting and I never get bored of it. I have an eclectic style. If it's old and a little quirky I am drawn to it all the more. I hope you enjoy browsing through my finds here on Rue Vert De Gris and in my other store Maintenant.

Welcome to Maintenant, to ensure your purchase goes smoothly, please take a look at the policies below.

Buying and living with vintage is a great way to recycle and keep the past alive.
I love vintage and handmade items, anything from the last century, through mid century to the 70s... I am an upholsterer but I also sew and restore furniture.. All of the items I sell I have been attracted to and feel an affinity with. I always try to describe things accurately but with vintage items there can be a number of 'loved areas' so if I make a mistake it is an honest mistake and I will always do everything I can to rectify any mistakes.

I am always open to suggestions or personal requests if you are searching for something specific or special please let me know.

I am open to a layaway plan for more expensive items. This way you can split your payments over a period of time between 1 and 3 months. We will agree the payments at the beginning and then your first payment reserves your item.

All items are carefully wrapped and packaged to avoid damage in transit.

I send worldwide and aim to send out items as soon as possible after your payment has cleared, usually within 3-5 days. I usually ship Tuesday and Friday.

Postage is from France

I send packages worldwide by French Priority Airmail, there is no insurance or tracking with this option. Your purchase usually arrives between 5 to 15 days , sometimes a little longer. The customs of receiving countries can sometimes create some delays so please be patient.

The french post has a 2 kg maximum weight for the priority airmail packages. If your purchase exceeds two kilos, I will ship in two or more separate packages.
If you prefer insurance and tracking please send me a message and I will send you a recalculated invoice with the upgraded shipping fees. To be kind to the environment, I use as much recycled packaging as possible, this also helps to keep shipping cost to a minimum. I do build in a small charge into the shipping cost for packaging and related administration.

In this case I will add an upgraded shipping service that combines a delivery guarantee in about 8 business days and an online tracking service.

If you purchase multiple items I happy to combine the shipping cost for you.

Please note that customs duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility.
