About

Creating beautiful new fiber art inspired by the past.

I was contacted through my blog by a historical reenactor in early 2007 as he tried to find a source for historically accurate 18th century Scottish bonnets. After a lot of research and experimentation I designed a pattern and sent him my first prototype free in exchange for word of mouth advertising. Thanks to that first nudge in the right direction I have had as much custom knitting work as I could handle. I added custom kilt hose to my repertoire not long after thanks to the not-so-subtle hints of my Scottish kilt-wearing husband. I love designing patterns. The magic of turning simple yarn into a three-dimensional object truly captures my imagination. As a complete history nerd it also didn't take me long to teach myself to spin, dye, process raw fleece, and weave on a rigid heddle loom. Between my full-time job and my commitment to making beautiful art for myself and my loved ones I sometimes have difficulty keeping up with my shop, but all the items I list here are made with love and care.
