A Call to Honor Women through Sacred Adornment
When I seriously began crafting jewelry, around the age of 35, I became very involved in collecting old, rare beads from other countries, as well as rustic pendants and charms. Weaving these elements together helped inspire and resurrect some fundamental aspect of my being...here, my imagination grew and my ideas about who I was as a female began to change. Who would think that creating jewelry could spark this process! Yet it did, and in this creative process I have found the power of sacred adornment. Through creating assemblage jewelry, I have tapped into the ancient shamanic potential of Altering the Self.
I feel a deep desire to share this Art Form with other women.
The female body is sacred space that is celebration of Life. Much has ensued in patriarchal history to cause us to negate this fact, to doubt ourselves, to deny our own creativity and self-worth. Creating jewelry is one way that I move beyond these misconceptions, back into the sacred arena of our female potential where imagination can grow and ideas can begin to change about who we are and what we are capable of. Female equals bounty. Let us each Remember, Celebrate & Inspire...
