About

Combining art and tradition to enhance your home and special day.

Ruth Mergi's shop first went live with her first full line of wedding ketubahs at the beginning of 2013. We thank all of our clients, friends, and fans for their overwhelming support, and look forward to creating new work together in the future! Keep an eye out for new products, gifts, and fine art works – we are always adding new pieces to our shop.

---------------------

Raised in a vibrant, welcoming Jewish community in the United States, Ruth's love for art began in her art-filled home, where art was valued both for its beauty and as a means of personal and cultural expression. Ruth learned papercutting while in high school, and her very first papercut was of the word “Shalom” -- “Peace” -- in Hebrew letters.

Over the years, Ruth continued to cut paper, and also learned painting, drawing, sculpture. Her studies and adventures took her far afield, as Ruth traveled through Europe and India, found work in high tech and media, and pursued degrees in philosophy and law. Ruth then settled in Israel, and adapted to life as an Israeli, wife, and mom to three. Through it all, Ruth learned the art of creative experimentation, as much in life as in the studio.

And the studio was where Ruth wanted to be: As much as she learned and explored, her heart always belonged to art, and in 2009, after her youngest daughter was born, Ruth began work in the studio full-time. Ruth's work explores the development of pattern, beauty, and complexity from simple structures and forms. She is obsessive about technique, and brings an intensity and passion to everything she does in the studio.

Not long after Ruth began her full-time work as an artist, she was asked to create a wedding ketubahs. The work struck a chord with Ruth, and she was thrilled to combine her fine art work with her rich Jewish background. Since then, Ruth has created a number of timeless and beautiful ketubah designs, extraordinary fine art pieces, and timeless gifts. Today, Ruth takes great joy and delight in meaningfully contributing to couples' unique and personal celebrations, while maintaining a serious, art-driven studio practice.
