Illustration: For Creeps

So, I love creepy things. Stringy, willowy, sallow, icy, dirty ... those are just a few words that I like to think describe my pieces. One of the creepiest parts of my life was immersing myself in the twisted tales of Roald Dahl, The Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson and a whole slew of talented storytellers who were able to weave frightening, funny, disgusting and sometimes charming stories that to this day keep me entertained.

I started this shop because I thought it was time to share MY story. Well, not my life story, but the life story of the characters I'd created to amuse myself. I love sharing my art, but I've never been good at that whole networking racket, so I found myself stuck in tiny craft shows where people roamed past my tiny booth, looking for something a little less ... hairy.

I knew the Etsy community held the kind of people who would appreciate my art for what it was. I love how I don't have to mold my illustrations into something mainstream, shiny and dash-it-all BORING for the corporate masses. I've finally found a home -- albeit a creepy one -- but hey, I like creeps. So there.

Ever since my mom gave me a spool of Dot Matrix paper and some crayons when I was about 3, I wanted to be an artist. I eventually went to college for Illustration and have moved on from the Dot Matrix days ... at least, I like to think so.

I hope you love any art that you purchase from SEM Illustrations! However, if for some reason you are not satisfied, please contact me within 7 days and I will refund the cost of the item. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
Your items will ship after the payment has been cleared, except for children's book orders, which will ship within 2 business days after payment. Payment must be received in at least 2 business days or the transaction will be canceled. I'll make an exception if you're waiting on your next paycheck .. we all know how that goes!
I ship USPS Monday through Friday, and will insure items over $50. International customers are responsible for any duties, taxes or other fees applied by customs.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am always willing to take custom orders for children's books or prints. If you have a story you've always wanted to turn into a book or just want me to write and illustrate a personalized book for your child, let me know! Pricing varies and depends on type of media used, page length and size. Purchase of original illustrations as well as the book will increase the price. You can see some of my children's book illustration work at or to get an idea of the styles I use.

Please allow between 3 to 4 weeks for custom orders.

PLEASE keep in mind that special orders are a little different from regular prints. Because I am creating something especially for you, I will automatically switch into freelance illustrator gear! That means prices will be a little higher than, say, a $10 print. My going rate is between $25-30 per hour and for large projects, I require a signed contract -- just to cover both of our butts! For freelance projects you will receive the finished product, either a print or completed book. If you request the original artwork (which is not always possible since a lot of my work is digital), I will apply additional fees as necessary. Of course, all of this will be decided on before beginning and will appear in the contract! Digital files will be provided to you at no extra charge, but I do ask that you not reprint my artwork for resale. Because hey, that just wouldn't be very nice!
