Announcement   Welcome to SH Studios! Here you will find hand made artisan jewelry using traditional metal-smithing techniques, as well as some experimental happy accidents. Sterling silver and copper, along with gemstones and hand selected glass beads are the raw materials to create these unique and limited edition pieces of mostly modern design.

You'll find up-cycled pieces like my Heirloom Rescue Cuff Bracelet crafted from antique serving dish holders, water cast creations using recycled sterling silver and fabricated pieces from sheet metal and wire. We are honored to quote custom jewelry and are pleased to offer gemstone choices.

I hand fabricate each piece in my little Laguna Beach studio using recycled materials when possible and eco friendly chemicals and techniques. My workbench was originally built and used by my Uncle Bill in the 1950s and just recently handed down to me. That guy in the picture above my bench is Grampa Ira, who taught Uncle Bill how to set stones. I guess it runs in the family!

All of these creations are one of a kind, each containing their own foibles and exhibiting the hand of their creator.

Thanks for supporting the artisan community!

Sorry it has taken so long to leave feedback. The bracelet is absolutely gorgeous!!! My friend was so thrilled to receive it and loves the background of how this bracelet came to be. She remembers ( as do I) the silver serving pieces that our mothers and grandmothers had just like the one you used for this bracelet. She absolutely loves the bracelet and tells me repeatedly!! Thanks so much.

About

"Because I could not stop for death..." Emily Dickenson

As a child of the 60s, I began my artistic musings by making intricate macramé belts and accessories and selling them to the local trendy boutique. In the 70s, stained and leaded glass became a preoccupation, and with the birth of my daughter, sewing and textile arts came to the forefront… Then, along came computational machines and my fascination with the potential of personal computing (and natural talent for computer languages) led to a long and wild career in information technology that ended when it tried to kill me.

My jewelry designs are inspired by the organic beauty found in my Laguna Beach surroundings and the rigid geometrics of motherboards and circuitry. Employing sterling silver, copper, found objects and precious gemstones, my designs feature massive gemstones, earthy tones and happy accidents with a splash of clean contemporary lines thrown in for good measure.

Gratefully, because ‘I could not stop for death, I learned how to smith metal and fabricate jewelry. I feel lucky, every day, to be creating something with my own hands.
