About SPOONandSAILOR
Spoon&Sailor Letterpress
At Spoon&Sailor, we like to party like it’s 1899. This means that every single item that makes its way out the studio door is 100% handcrafted: all ink colors are custom mixed; each card that you receive is manually cut down to size on a turn of the century guillotine cutter; every one of your printed pieces has been hand-fed into a century old Chandler & Price platen press — often several times at that.
Letterpress printing is a true craft — a slow and methodical process that demands great attention to all the little details. Accordingly, the Spoon&Sailor studio runs like a well oiled machine from Mister Roger’s Neighborhood; we like to take our time and do it right. We pride ourselves in supplying you with well-crafted, high quality whimsy...& work hard to do so every single time.
Elana Joy is the captain of Spoon&Sailor. An award winning artist and designer from the great Northeast, Elana has been romantically involved with both words and letters for several decades and has been running the presses in dresses since 2003. In her less inky time, she is a typography, design and photography professor at several local colleges and has been known to lose her weekends to gardening, canning, baking &/or antiquing. She rides a red bicycle and would very much like a dog.

Once an item is shipped, please understand that we have absolutely no control over how long the Post Office takes to deliver your package to you. If you would like to purchase insurance, delivery confirmation or upgrade to priority or express mail, please contact us prior to paying so that we may adjust your invoice. In the very rare event of any USPS inconsistencies that lead to a particularly snail-like delivery of your snail mail order, we ask that customers allow up to 2 weeks for transit on all orders.
For international orders we ship via USPS first class international mail. Delivery time varies by destination.
Spoon&Sailor is not responsible for items lost by the Postal Service & will not provide refunds for lost orders. If you would like to be extra sure that your package arrives safely, please contact us prior to ordering so we can add a USPS insurance fee.
Additional policies and FAQs
Every single item in our shop is 100% handmade: all items are printed with hand-mixed inks, hand-fed one-at-a-time into a century-old Chandler & Price printing press, cut down to size on a manual turn of the century guillotine cutter, scored individually on press, & then folded &/or bound by hand. This means that there may be slight & subtle variances between individual items {or from picture to actual piece} as each item will show the beauty & character of a handmade object...which we believe to be a very good thing!
WHOLESALE
All of our products are available for wholesale orders. If you are interested in placing a wholesale order, please contact us for information via Etsy convo or at info{at}spoonandsailor.com.
FEEDBACK
