About

SToNZ: organically elegant sterling silver jewelry inspired by nature

I have been making art as long as I can remember. I was fortunate to be raised by arts loving parents who encouraged my artistic exploration from a young age. (Arts & Crafts camp? Painting classes at the museum? Metalsmithing classes anywhere I could find them? Sign me up!) Fortunately my awesome husband also appreciates and supports my artistic pursuits!

My creative passions led me to art school (Go Blue!) where I earned a BFA in graphic design and illustration.
I worked as a professional illustrator at American Greetings for almost a decade and continued to do design work for a variety of clients from my home-based graphic design studio (SmARTwork Studio, Inc.) while raising my identical twin daughters.

Spending all that time on the computer, made me really miss the hands-on act of actually MAKING things.
So, I revisted my passion for metal and stone.

As a child I spent most of my summers at the beach. The seaglass and beach stones I collected over the years were filling bowls throughout my studio and home.
Then I realized I could creatively combine my two passions: making beautiful jewelry and beach combing for natural treasures. (Oh, and foraging at garage sales and flea markets for old keys, tokens and old sterling silver jewelry parts.) The result is SToNZ.

I found a perfect home on Etsy and love how it has enabled me to connect with many wonderful people around the world. (both customers and fellow artists)

Thank you to my inspiring, supportive customers. You remind me every day that SToNZ is not just something that I do for me. I do it for you!

I have recently added a vintage section to my shop....this will be growing, so check back often for new and unusual finds from my garage sale adventures!

Payment
SToNZ accepts major credit cards through Etsy checkout or PayPal. You can use Paypal to pay with your credit card without having a Paypal account. If you have any difficulty with Paypal let me know and I can send you an invoice.

If you are in Ohio, 8% sales tax will be added to your purchase.
Shipping
I usually ship USPS First Class INSURED mail within the USA. First Class usually takes 2-3 days to most destinations in the USA. Most items are shipped same or next business day.

Once an item has been shipped, it is out of my control. I do not have any additional information outside of what your tracking number will tell you. I am not responsible for "lost" items if the tracking declares a package as being delivered.

• International customers please note: I can only estimate shipping time to countries outside the US. Please be patient, allow plenty of time and always contact me to let me know if you have not received your package after a reasonable amount of time has elapsed. 3-6 weeks is not unusual, especially during the holiday season.

• International Customs documents: I must fill out a customs form to ship to your country. The contents information and cost is automatically filled in when I generate the label. I will not falsify customs documents. Thank you for your understanding.

• Taxes and Duties: Your country may charge a duty or tax on jewelry or other merchandise coming into your country. Taxes or duties are the customer's responsibility. I do not reimburse for any fees, duties, taxes, or other charges made by your country on my products. All prices listed are USD. Packages returned to me unclaimed will be refunded for the merchandise only.
Here is a useful link to calculate duties that you may be required to pay on your shipment: http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation.

Please make sure your Paypal and Etsy shipping addresses match. I will use the Etsy address as a default if I do not hear from you about a discrepancy.

If you purchase an item as a gift, let me know and I’d be happy to send it to the recipient without a receipt and send the receipt to you. I do not always include a printed receipt in my packages. Please let me know if you absolutely want one.

When possible I use recycled or clean pre-used packing materials.
Not always pristine, but it saves trees!
Refunds and Exchanges
If an item is damaged in shipping I will be more than happy to fix or replace it free of charge. (This is unlikely as I am a careful packer!)
I offer money back if there is ANY problem with your order. I just ask that you give me the opportunity to solve any issues, before leaving feedback. I will always make it right.
Your satisfaction is my primary concern!
Additional policies and FAQs
Repairs:

30 day repair warranty covers defective jewelry parts; does not cover natural stone variation and mistreated products. Most STōNZ items are durable, but like any jewelry, should be treated with TLC! If your SToNZ jewelry breaks after the 30 day period, do get in touch with me. I'll fix it if I can!

If you are unhappy with your purchase, you may return the item within 7 days of purchase for a full refund not including shipping charges. Please let me know right away if you are sending something back. Personalized/customized items are not returnable for obvious reasons.

Please "like" STōNZ on facebook to take advantage of secret sales and specials!
I also try to post items on Facebook or Instagram before they are listed in my shop so you'll get a little advanced notice of the newest stuff.

Though STōNZ jewelry is made using natural beach stones, it is surprisingly lightweight. Beach stones are porous and so lightweight that you will find your STōNZ jewelry to be very comfortable to wear. I only use sterling silver (or occasionally copper or gold) and high quality sterling clasps.
No two STōNZ items are ever the same. Each stone was created and sea tumbled by Mother Nature then transformed into a unique piece of beautiful wearable artwork. All pearls are real natural freshwater pearls, often with funky blemishes and natural imperfections. This adds to their natural beauty and seems to marry perfectly with the earthy quality of the beach stones and silver findings.

I like to add other materials to my jewelry as I come across interesting doodads. (Wow, my spell check actually knew how to spell that word!)

I frequently oxidize my sterling silver chains and buff them for a matte satin finish to compliment the links and stones on the pendants. A word of warning: Dipping these chains in liquid jewelry cleaner or using cream silver polish may remove this dark oxidization. Daily wear will cause your jewelry get shinier. You can buff it gently with a nylon dish scrubbing pad or fine steel wool if you want to restore the matte finish.
If you prefer a shinier look, you can buff your jewelry with a polishing cloth. STōNZ beach stones may darken a bit with wear due to the oils in your skin. They actually get more beautiful as you wear them! For the occasional cleaning of your STōNZ jewelry it is best to use a soft toothbrush with a mild dish soap and then rinse with water.
