What inspired me to make handcrafted personal care products?
My products are made on our small farm overlooking the beautiful Bitterroot Mountains of Montana. Inspired by my sister-in-law’s autoimmune disorder ~ that is multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). I create products using natural and organic ingredients that she can use. Some of the ingredients are grown on our farm such as honey and beeswax from the hives on our property, roses and Lavender. Others ingredients I use are enhanced with Essential oils instead of chemical fragrance. The products I make are not tested on animals but on family members and my sister-in-law is my canary in the mine. I strive to not only come up with a quality product at a reasonable price but also socially responsible sourcing local and sustainable ingredients.

About Me For the first 20 years of my young adult life I was a Process Engineer with a Chemical Engineering background in the Printed Circuit Board industry. Then I met Bill Grout ~ a glass artist who has been blowing glass since 1993 and the one who spellbound me with his glass blowing magic. In 2002 I became a glass artist, in 2003 I moved to the Bitterroot Valley. You can image how that conversation went over “I am leaving my engineering job to be a glass blower in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana”. Bill and I live on small farm overlooking the Bitterroot Mountain range ~ the farm is lush with gardens and orchards and is our own little piece of paradise. In 2012 I started making personal care products inspired by my sister-in-law’s autoimmune disorder, creating products without chemical fragrances and using natural and sustainable ingredients. This coupled with my fascination of soap making (inspired by my wonderful son-in-law) spun me off into a love for creating natural personal care products. The name of the products was Dream Kitty, I have since change the name to Sage Cottage 406 realizing not all people were kitty fans. Bill and I use to have a small glass store in Corvallis, MT where we sold our blown glass and personal care products. I had several people using the lip balms and creams on their pets telling me the products cleared up their pets Hot Spot, mange and skin problems. Since then I came out with a line of handcrafted pet care products named Barnaby Dog, named after my grand puppy Barnaby.

Creating blown glass, Steampunk designs, Handcrafted person care items and Dog products, all with love

My husband and I are full time glass artists / mad scientist who both left the corporate world to live in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. Our small farm is part of a 250 acre farm his mother once owned and with the care and easements she put on the land this will always be organic, agricultural land. We are lucky to have water rights that allows us to grow abundant gardens and orchards.
More about us:
More about us and our story:

Bill has been blowing glass since 1993. In 2002 Rae left the corporate world to be with Bill and pursue her artistic adventure blowing glass and so much more. Since 2016 Rae has been incorporating metal working, steampunk, dragons and other fantasy themes into the glass art. Together they live on a small farm that includes orchards, an extensive garden with a green house, Steampunk shop, Torch shop for torch work glass blowing, Bills Man Cave equipped with an electronics wing and the Brew house, along with the Sage Cottage Observatory for astrophotography and the vacation getaway Sage Cottage 406 itself where guests can join the journey in comfort and quiet. The location has wide open views overlooking the Bitterroot Valley of Montana, where together they spread love and harmony, sharing this fantastic journey called life.

What makes our Hamilton Farmers Market unique is our rule that vendors must live in Ravalli County and their fine products, whether grown or handmade, are created here in Montana. We are truly a local economy supporting and serving the folks of Montana and guests visiting our beautiful valley. Hamilton Farmers Market is a cooperative with more than 130 member vendors. Our Ravalli County farm and garden vendors offer only fresh vegetables grown from non GMO seed. Eggs, cheese, honey, emu meat and locally raised beef are also offered. Tasty prepared food vendors cook a wide variety of freshly baked goods, jellies and sauces, as well as hot meals like tacos, burritos, and pulled pork and flatbread sandwiches. Bagels cooked to order and sausage on a bun too!
