This is actually a 10 star review! This fanny pack/cross body bag is beautifully made with gorgeous Obi fabric. Kim customized the strap size for me plus included an extra strap - both are perfect. She also added a small gift that I will enjoy using. This purchase exceeded my expectations between the beautiful pack/sling, Kim's excellent customer service and the fast shipping. I very highly recommend this shop.

Prompt shipping, and packaged with care; the package included a note that described how they wore masks and gloves while packing each mask. The fabric is high quality, it looks great, and it's comfortable. I will probably buy more.

"Saisei" Means Rebirth
The Japanese word "saisei" meaning "Rebirth" is composed of the kanji 再 (read sai) meaning "again; twice; second time" and 生 (read sei) meaning "life; birth".
I travel to Japan to purchase kimonos from families, estate sales, auctions, and kimono shops. Each item of clothing has a history and I want to honor that heritage by careful construction of the new garments. To do this, I take each kimono apart by hand before deciding what the second-life of the garment will become.
Kimono fabric is only 14” wide, so I've designed and purchased special patterns that work with the intricacy of the kimono fabric. After determining which pattern works best with the fabric, I cut, and then sew each piece.
Each kimono and obi was hand painted or woven by a person not a machine; the garment in itself is one-of-a-kind. In a fast-fashion world, we are losing the appreciation of materials and the history of objects.
More importantly, the kimonos are part of the circular design economy and the lifespan of the fabric is extended and doesn’t end-up in a landfill. 100% of my work is sewn by me in Seattle.
Each kimono I take apart has a story, has memories, has had a journey that’s worth saving. That story doesn’t end, its reborn and continues with the new owner.
Saisei garments are about remembering the past in order to craft the future.
Hi Everyone, Kim here. Born in Germany (spoke French as my first language) and raised all over the world (diplomat brat), I spent most of my “impressionable years” in Japan. Its been a privilege to have lived and worked all over Europe and Asia.
