Wearable art inspiration

SAKARISKAR is an ancient Iberian name. It was written in an old artifact, found in an archaeological site, not far from where I come from.

A main part of my inspiration for creating comes from ancient cultures, from old European pre-Roman cultures like Iberian or Celtic, to Japanese art, Native American crafts or Egyptian patterns to name a few.
Nature is also a source of inspiration, especially when it comes to color palettes and textures to incorporate in a piece.

I have always liked to make things with my hands. When I was little, I taught myself how to make seed bead bracelets and braided necklaces. Somehow I was able to decipher how the intricate patterns worked, and where the knots and stitches had to be put together. It came natural to me. During the years, this love for crafting with my own hands developed into other types of making, like pencil drawing, sculpting creatures and, also, working in scientific research in a laboratory -- this is creating, too.

In recent years, I have been drawn back in to working with raw materials, like beads, leather, metal... to create unique pieces of jewelry and other crafts. Eventually this making has become Sakariskar, and I’ll be sharing new creations to come. I hope you enjoy the journey.
