Wonderful seller and absolutely gorgeous little monkey! This is the second time I have bought one as a new born present and the recipients have all loved him as much I do! This is now my go to baby gift! Thank you so much Sally for going the extra mile to ensure this arrives as a lovely gift! x :D
Knitted Lambswool Creations!
I have been making things for as long as I can remember, it's what makes me happy!
I was born and brought up co Armagh, N Ireland then moved to London in 1996 to study Fashion at the Royal College of Art where I met my husband and ended up staying!
I have worked in the fashion industry in the UK and laterly Belgium where I designed for Levi's Europe.
Now that my children are a little bit bigger I run my knitted textile business, designing and making and also work as an Art and Textile technician - all good fun!
when my youngest son was at nursery I enrolled in a short course to learn experimental machine knitting. I just loved this process and was given a domestic knitting machine from a friend who had one in her loft. It was then I started designing and knitting and opened an Etsy shop to sell my creations, that's how it all began!
I find working and designing in lambswool so satisfying, there is such a fantastic range of colours the patterns are endless! I get my design inspiration from memories of my childhood toys, I love to collect old Galt and Abbatt wooden picture puzzles and card games. I also love Scandinavian imagery and colour.
I started my label Sally Nencini in 2009, designing and knitting lambswool cushions and toys from my home in South London. Now I send stock to galleries and small independent shops throughout the UK, I also sell to shops in Australia and Japan. My production is still pretty small scale but I have some help when things get busy - Pam is a lovely lady who helps with the knitting when I have large orders, she is based in Scotland. More recently I have added a range of small lambswool blankets, scarves, hats and gloves which I get knitted in a small family run factory just outside Edinburgh, Scotland.
However I still work from home, which is now Norwich, Norfolk. The knitting machine is pretty busy and I sew all the toys and cushions myself, I just love making things!
I design all the products for my range and make most of them myself. I manage all the day to day stuff including packing, posting, pictures and promotion, as well as working as an Art and Textile technician- never a dull moment!
Pam is an amazingly experienced and talented machine knitter who helps me with the knitting on larger orders. She has an array of domestic knitting machines that she works on from her home in Scotland.
