Announcement    Hello! For this holiday season I'm offering free shipping on almost everything! I'm happy to have my shop back open after a few years of e-commerce rest. Thank you for all your support along the way! My studio is in full swing with Fables of the North Shore - what might be the most joyous project I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of! We made a book (!) which includes 5 original fables and heaps of original art to illustrate them. I will be adding more prints and original Fables artwork to my shop over the coming weeks. And check out my artist-pal collaborator Jordan Sundberg's work over at tincupdesgin.com. Keep in touch for more Fables fun unfolding :)

$35+ purchase means FREE SHIPPING and an easy $5 flat fee shipping on everything else. Thank you for supporting my place within the arts. Creativity is the language of our times and we need to get the word out :) Thank you for walking alongside me this way.

I'm a visual artist based in Duluth, Minnesota. Creating with design in mind, I'm fueled by color, great composition and meaning. Encaustic, the art of the poem, collage and sculptural play currently fill up my studio. Wonder as I wander. xo

Production partners

  • Glørud Design

    Duluth, MN

Glørud Design | "custom woodwork for life" | Studio Haiku commissioned Glørud Design to create our beautiful walnut stands and handmade clipboards for our haiku prints because we wanted perfection. Everything they do is of the utmost quality and fine art craftsmanship. A perfect pairing.

A bit about me: My name is Natalie Salminen Rude. I'm a visual artist and poet based in Duluth, Minnesota, and I interweave beauty, justice, and wonder into my creative work. Painting primarily in oils and encaustic (an ancient medium that combines beeswax, pigment, resin, and heat), as well as fostering a poetic writing practice (haiku!), are some of the ingredients in my meaning-full, dream-laden, zest-filled life.

Working professionally in the arts since 2004, I maintain a brick and mortar studio, Studio Haiku (@studiohaiku.design) in Duluth’s Woodland neighborhood, I teach encaustic workshops, exhibit paintings and sculpture both locally and internationally, and I love to facilitate salon-style discussions in my studio and abroad - on spirituality and what it means to live as an artist within the context of commitment, family, and the humble rhythms of life. I long for contemplative rhythms to infuse my everyday.

I live along the great shores of Lake Superior with my loving and talented partner and our three dear kiddos.

Many thanks to you- your presence here fills me with gratitude. Thank you truly for your support of the arts. You make the creative world go round.
