About

Simple Jewelry

Hi, I’m Jane Brown. I design and make the jewelry for my shop, Sand Canyon Jewelry. My shop is influenced by the time I spent living in New Mexico. I love the southwest--the wonderful colors, the high desert, the mountains, turquoise and silver, pueblos, pottery, handwoven rugs, the diversity of the people, and the history. I’m also inspired by the state where I currently live, Colorado. It’s difficult for me to imagine living someplace where I couldn’t be near the Rocky Mountains.

After I retired from my left-brained, accounting/computer career, I decided to explore my right-brained, creative side. I began making jewelry, and I discovered I really enjoyed it. I had always thought I didn’t have a creative bone in my body. Who knew that I would have a jewelry shop on Etsy!

I don’t have a studio--or even a room--where all of the work for the shop takes place. The shop has pretty much taken over my apartment. Different functions are tucked into whatever space is available. I do beading in one room, metalwork in another room, and photography, shipping, and accounting in other spaces.

I love having a shop on Etsy. I’ve been fortunate enough to have wonderful customers, and I’ve met some fascinating people--both buyers and sellers--along the way.

Thanks so much for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. I hope you enjoy looking around my shop!

Frequently asked questions

DO YOU CHARGE SALES TAX?

Sales tax is charged on orders shipped to Colorado addresses.

WHICH SHIPPING SERVICE DO YOU USE AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

DOMESTIC: There is a flat fee of $3.50 to ship any number of items by USPS First Class Mail. You can choose to upgrade to USPS Priority Mail for an additional fee of $3.00 (for a total of $6.50). Tracking information is available for both First Class and Priority Mail.

INTERNATIONAL: I am able to ship only to Canada at this time. Any number of items can be shipped for a flat fee of $10.00 by USPS First Class International Package Service. Tracking information is available.

WILL YOU SEND AN ITEM THAT IS A GIFT DIRECTLY TO THE RECIPIENT?

I'm happy to send a gift directly to the recipient and include an attractive note card with your personal message at no additional charge. You can enter the recipient's shipping address during the checkout process. Under "Choose an address," click "Add a new address" and enter the recipient's name and address. If you would like me to include a note card with the gift, you can enter your message in the "Note to SandCanyonJewelry" box on the checkout page.

WHAT KIND OF PACKAGING DO YOU USE?

I carefully wrap each jewelry piece in tissue paper, place it in a black gift box, wrap the box with white ribbon, and then tie a card with my shop information onto the ribbon. You can see a picture of the packaging in the About section of my shop or in the pictures under each listing. The packaging is perfect for gift giving!

When I prepare gift boxes for shipping, I wrap each one in bubble wrap and send it in a bubble mailing envelope. For large orders, gift boxes may be sent in either a bubble mailing envelope or a sturdy box.

DO YOU SELL WHOLESALE TO RETAILERS?

I'm unable to accept wholesale orders at this time.

DO YOU ACCEPT CUSTOM ORDERS?

I’m not able to accept custom orders at this time. However, if indicated in an item’s description, I will make certain items in a different size upon request.
