Announcement   Dearest past, present, and future customers,
I currently have orders to fill through May 31, 2017, so I have temporarily deactivated my made-to-order section (effective March 9) because I am taking a summer vacation this year. If you have already placed an order, no worries - I will be completing them as scheduled. I am planning to start taking made-to-order requests again some time this Fall, so please watch this spot for further information. Thanks so much for your patience, generosity, and support!

Kindest regards,
~Sandra

I do like it, even though I was expecting a bit more premium material

Sandra is an artist! The ornaments I order were even MORE BEAUTIFUL than on the picture! And Sandra accepted to make a small personalization (she added a year at the back). Thank you so much Sandra. Don’t stop making these!

Graphic tees are the perfect Christmas gifts...especially when they have adorable woodland creatures printed on them! The fun of this shirt is in its simple graphic, the symmetrical spikes, ears, eyes, and nose, the warm maroon color and the super-soft perfect t-shirt material. And it shipped on time --- that about sums up a perfect gift!

About

The Story of Sandhra Lee

In order to tell you about my art, I need to tell you who I am. My name is Sandra. My mother says that she wanted to name me Kathleen, but my grandmother, a sturdy and strong-willed farmer's wife, insisted that my name be Sandra. My mother doesn't remember why, and my grandmother passed away before I could ask her.

I chose to use SandhraLee on Etsy because I wanted a name close to my own, but one that distinguished me from the other Sandra Lees in the world, one of whom is quite famous. One day I was reading an article on Gandhi when it occurred to me that his name was a near-rhyme to Sandi, my childhood nickname. It was then that I decided to add the "h" to Sandra, making it Sandhra. It reminds me to be strong, compassionate, and peaceful, and to do my best to follow the example set by Gandhi in whatever small way that I can.

My great-great grandmother was Cherokee, so perhaps my joy in celebrating Nature comes from that ancestral DNA. As a girl I was always outdoors exploring the fields, forests, ponds, and creeks surrounding my childhood home in northeastern Ohio. Mother Earth provided the most wonderful art supplies! There were clover blossoms for making necklaces, earth-red sandstones for drawing on the driveway, and fallen branches to make pretend bows and arrows - necessary accessories for the crayon-decorated Indian princess dress that I made from an old pillowcase. My obsession to create art surely took root at this magical time in my childhood.

Although I now live in the desert southwest, my artistic inspiration comes primarily from my childhood memories of growing up near my grandparents' farm in northeastern Ohio. and later from the many years I lived on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
