Announcement   Welcome to my shop featuring my exclusive, one-of-a-kind handcrafted art jewelry inspired by living and traveling around the world, and from the unique beads and fascinating cultural components I select for my jewelry. I call my pieces story-telling jewelry because most have an interesting story.

Here is a convo message from a customer who has bought several of my necklaces: "You not only promise, you DELIVER!!! This latest piece is spectacular!!! I run out of words to describe your pieces. It is true Art---A picture is worth 1000 words, and to have it and hold it and know it is yours is indescribable! THANK YOU!
Your admiring and grateful patron... "

ALL REPEAT BUYERS get a 10% discount on future purchases on everything in my shop, except half price items and layaways. You'll receive a coupon code to use with your next purchase(s).

SALE SECTION - 50% off original listed Etsy price. I occasionally run "Etsy on Sale" for a section at 10-20% off.

I use good quality beads and fabulous pendants, many ethnic, some antiques, which are strung on the best stringing wire - SoftFlex. Most of my chains and findings (clasps, earring wires, etc.) are sterling silver or gold vermeil (a heavy coating of gold over sterling silver.)

My jewelry is/was found in galleries and boutiques, and the gift shops of several museums including, among others, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Mingei International Museum, the Huntington in Pasadena, and the Women's Museum of California.

I hope you enjoy viewing and wearing my jewelry that I have created in my smoke-free, pet-free environment. My one-of-a-kind (OOAK) pieces will enhance your individuality and help you stand out in a crowd of sameness. I welcome all conversations with questions or requests.

I INVITE YOU TO TRAVEL THE WORLD WITH MY JEWELRY!

Very brilliant red blood coral earrings made by a very talented artist. The ideal gift for 50 years marriage. Our love is as warm and deeply red as these coral earrings!

About

Unique, handcrafted jewelry inspired by world travels and the fascinating beads, antique pieces, and cultural components I select for my designs.

My passion is creating jewelry as wearable art by combining natural, ethnic, antique and contemporary elements. The study of beads has given me an understanding of the impact of hundreds of years of trade among cultures - along the Silk Road in Asia, trade beads sent to Africa from Bohemia, or by ships blown by the tradewinds between continents.

Over the years, I, too, have been blown by the tradewinds, living, working (teaching) and traveling abroad including a summer in Europe during college; two years in the Peace Corps in the Philippines, followed by six months of traveling throughout Asia; a month-long trip across North Africa in a Land Rover; seven years in Canada (while married to a Canadian); several trips throughout most of Europe; a cruise around southern South America; a year-and-a-half working in Iran (ah, the beauty and sensuality of Persian culture!), traveling in the Middle East and Russia; several trips in Mexico and the Caribbean; and three years working in Japan which included extensive travel throughout fabulous Asia again. All these cultures made indelible impressions that you will see reflected in my jewelry.

Returning to the States from Iran, I completed an MBA and ran my own business in Boston for nine years – personal image consulting and a women’s boutique specializing in beautiful handcrafted accessories. I honed my business skills and learned much about style, color, line, scale and texture, all elements of design.

Prior to my move to the San Diego area, I lived in the San Francisco Bay area where I worked for 12 years as a development director (fundraising) for several nonprofits including a famous ballet company, Big Brothers Big Sisters, a French-American School, and a well-known Buddhist meditation retreat center.

How did I begin making jewelry? Well... I had two little silver charms I had bought in Tibet and wanted them made into a pair of earrings. In 2004, I went into our local bead store and asked if they could do it. They said we don’t make jewelry for customers but we give classes so you can learn how to do it yourself. So I began taking jewelry classes and making jewelry - and the passion began.

My jewelry has appeared in galleries, boutiques and several museum gift shops including the San Diego Museum of Art, the Mingei International Museum, The Women’s Museum of California and the Huntington in Pasadena. Over the past 9 years, I have received very positive feedback from my customers, at art shows, and now on Etsy.

Some comments heard from clients:
“I’ve never seen anything so unusual and interesting.”
“You have such a good eye for design and color.”
“... so unique, not something you’d find at Macy’s or Bloomies or Nordstrom.”
“You have the best jewelry in the show.”
“I get so many compliments every time I wear your piece.”
“My mother/sister/wife/friend loved the jewelry I bought from you for her.”
“I loved the pieces I bought for gifts so much, I kept most of them for myself!”
“You’re such a creative, talented artist.”

The uniqueness of my jewelry designs and the wonderful cultural components I choose will add a real flair to your look and make you stand out in a world of sameness.

Welcome and thank you for visiting my shop! I want to make it as easy and satisfying as possible for you to view and purchase my work on Etsy. Buying jewelry is very personal and I understand how difficult it can be to purchase something of value online without seeing it in person. So please contact me if you would like any additional information or photos about a piece. I welcome the opportunity to communicate with you! I'm sure you will be pleased with your purchase.

Payment
All payments now go through Etsy Payments, This system allows you to use multiple payment methods, including credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Etsy gift cards. It’s also more flexible, stable, and secure than ever.

Reserved Orders: I'm happy to reserve a listing for you but payment must be received within 3 days of intent to purchase, or 3 days after a new shipping fee has been determined, or the reserve will be removed.

Installment Payment (Lay-Away) is available: I offer the option of paying for your purchase in 2 installments. Please contact me if you would like this option. Half of the purchase price + shipping is due first, and the remaining half can be paid up to 30 days later, after which your purchase will be shipped. There are no discounts or sale prices with layaway. **Please choose this option carefully as your initial payment is not refundable after the first 7 days.**
Shipping
I SHIP FROM SAN DIEGO, CA WITHIN THE US AND INTERNATIONALLY. I usually go to the US post office once a week (I'm a bit disabled), sometimes twice if I have a lot of orders. All shipments will be sent via United States Postal Service (USPS).

I SHIP MOST ITEMS IN A SMALL FLAT RATE PRIORITY MAIL BOX (automatically includes tracking number and $50 insurance in US) unless otherwise noted. Small items will be sent in a small padded envelope. I will combine items for cheaper shipping, but if you are purchasing more than one large item (some of my necklaces are quite large), they won't fit in a small flat rate priority mail box. Contact me first and we can decide how to proceed.

If not small box flat rate Priority Mail, I try to ESTIMATE USPS fees for first class mail but there are many variables (weight, size, distance, packing materials, etc.) If there is more than a $3 difference, I will issue a partial refund or send you an nvoice for the additional cost which I expect you to pay upon receipt. For a more accurate estimate, give me your US ZIP CODE BEFORE purchasing. There is no insurance included for First Class mail, so I cannot be responsible for mishaps unless you purchase insurance (see below.)

***INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING NOTICE*** USPS International Priority Mail changed their policies in January 2017. International Priority Mail will now include a tracking number and CAN include up to $200 insurance according to the value of merchandise IF insurance is purchased. FIRST CLASS International Mail will be CHEAPER but does not include insurance. IMPORTANT: If you want First Class (not priority mail), you must give me your country of destination BEFORE purchasing. For Canada, include province, city and postal code. I must prepare the package first and weigh it for a more accurate estimate before I go to the post office.

INSURANCE: I don't insure items unless requested. The additional cost of insurance is paid by the buyer before the item is shipped - notify me before you purchase if you want insurance and I’ll let you know the cost.

I would recommend insurance on pieces around $100 and more. I CANNOT be responsible for damaged or lost goods if you have not purchased insurance.

DAMAGED AND LOST GOODS: I wrap everything well, and am not responsible for damages or loss once a package enters the postal system, especially international shipping without insurance! Priority Mail in the US includes $50 insurance and allows us to track shipments so if something is lost or broken, I'll provide any tracking information, dates or address information as needed. Tracking and insurance is now available for international shipments.
Refunds and Exchanges
It is important to me that you are happy with your purchase. I provide several photos and measurements and am happy to answer any additional information. If for some reason you feel the piece has been misrepresented, please contact me within the first 3 days of receiving your package, before you do any feedback. If your reason is valid, I will refund you the amount that you have paid minus a $5 restocking fee on items over $25 and the shipping fee. You are responsible for the cost of your return shipment. You must return the order in the same condition as received. Once I receive the order, I will send you a refund.

**There are NO returns on SALE items from the 50% discount - HALF PRICE SALE SECTION.** These items are not defective but I've had them for a long time.
If something is on sale with a 10% or 20% discount, we can work out an exchange for something of equal or greater value. Contact me for details.
Additional policies and FAQs
As all my work is one-of-a-kind, I never reproduce a piece exactly the same. It is not usually possible to make changes to a piece. Depending on the design, I can sometimes make a necklace or bracelet shorter or add a few links to make it longer. Occasionally, if I still have the same or similar beads, I can make a piece longer or make earrings if they are not already included. Sometimes an extender can be added to certain types of clasps to make the necklace longer. A small fee may apply. Please contact me with any questions about changes.

CUSTOM ORDER If you have an interesting component or a design idea that you would like made into a necklace, contact me with the information and a photo(s), and perhaps I can design something special for you. A downpayment is required in advance.

Positive feedback (now called Reviews) on items received is greatly appreciated! This is important to me and other buyers who like to know what to expect. To leave a review, go to "your account" upper right, scroll down to "purchases and reviews", find the order, click on the fifth star, and leave a comment or two. I really appreciate positive reviews. You will find I have excellent reviews.
