Sandy Sea Turtle is a shop for ladies & girls who love accessorizing. I specialize in handmade turban headbands, scarves, and jewelry. All are made and inspired by a pretty, beachy, & boho vibe.
From the girl who always needed some sort of drawing utensil and anything that sufficed as paper wherever she went, I’ve always loved designing, creating, and making. You could always expect to receive a holiday present that was handcrafted or hand painted. I sold my first piece of artwork in the eighth grade, a van Gogh inspired beach scenery painted toy-box. I took art classes throughout school, and when I went away to college to study Exercise Science, the creating never stopped. I always decorated with things I had painted. I’ve recently taken my shop to Charlottesville, VA where I am pursuing my career as a Physical Therapist.
I started Sandy Sea Turtle shortly after knitting a headband for myself for an upcoming trip during the winter. (My grandmother taught my brother and I how to knit when we were young.) I figured, if I liked this, it’s useful, and a cute accessory, why not make them for other people too? As spring time was approaching I starting making turban headbands and then sewing infinity scarves. Then, with a little help from my grandmother’s jewelry making skills, I started making bangles and necklaces. Being “crafty” is something I find that just comes naturally, and I love being creative. Sandy Sea Turtle has helped me continue my love for art and creating throughout college, graduate school, and now as a physical therapist.
