I reached out to several "artists" on here looking for someone who could take a photograph from 1987 and make a card sized charcoal drawing for my dad on Father's Day. I received several declined responses as the picture was not clear enough to trace. Sarah not only accepted the challenge to draw this old photo, but exceeded my expectations. The drawing was perfect! My dad was so surprised and touched. Sarah's communication and time frame for completion were exemplary. I feel so lucky to have found a real artist on here that has such a good soul. Purchase from Sarah for your next portrait-nothing about the transaction will disappoint you! Thanks Sarah-I'm so grateful!

About
Art, and what Art is made of, because I can't help it.
Once upon a time, I was very small and loved to paint and draw. I was awed and inspired by everything i saw. My parents were artists and everything in the world seemed to be Art. I played Art throughout all the years as I grew up, and collected everything that inspired me-- from seedpods to industrial equipment to paper, especially paper. I would turn it all into something... This upbringing easily translated into a recycling/ upcycling obsession, and soon it seemed a waste to use anything that was needlessly new. Soon, I was in college, learning and experimenting with photography, fine art and illustration like it was my job. It was thrilling to learn so many new disciplines.
I got married and had 2 children and art making became smaller, faster, snippets here and there, but was still an overwhelming force in my life. Combined with a growing awareness of what impact we as a family were making on our environment, I'm constantly adjusting the way we buy eat and live to lighten our "footprint".
Is set up this shop so i would have something to do with all of the things i made, with the hope of giving it all a chance to be loved and used by others. I use as many salvaged, upcycled materials as possible in making my items and reuse packaging materials as well. My eco stance led me to join Team Ecoetsy, and I've been a member of that wonderful group for several years.
In teaching art and high end craft at a wonderful summer camp since 2005, I've learned about so many materials and techniques (glass, mosaic, woodworking, basketry, weaving, clay, fiber arts) that it is hard for me to stick with one or two or even five disciplines.
My shop, at times, reflects my eclectic nature. I never know what I'll make next. Art infuses me, and so it comes as no surprise that I'd rather be making Art than dinner on any given day.
I hope you will find something you love here. ;)
