How it's made...the caning process of my best selling Ruffle Necklace! Looks good enough to eat, but I don't recommend it wink

About

Be in Love with Your Life. Every Minute of It - Jack Kerouac

Hello!
I am an American artist living in Florence Italy specializing in Polymer Clay Jewelry. Born in New York and raised in Southern California, I moved here 16 years ago and have been inspired by this amazing city every day since.

For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated with making things with my hands. I get that from my mother. She decorated the kind of cakes that make you sorry to cut them and wraps the kind of presents that you don't want to open for fear of ruining the package. Each ribbon tied perfectly, every corner folded immaculately. She taught me how to tie the perfect bow and how important even the smallest details can be.

And then there were the jewelry boxes. My mother and my aunt had the most amazing jewelry and accessories collections you've ever seen. Satin and suede gloves perfectly organized in the top drawer of the dresser, perfume bottles carefully placed on an antique glass tray, hat boxes in the closet and a handbag collection that even Coco would envy.

But my favorite part was always the jewelry box, filled with pearls and rhinestones, beads and semi-precious stones. I could spend hours trying everything on and playing in the mirror.

Combining art and fashion is something that came naturally. I began making jewelry at the age of 19 and studied Fine Art at Art Center College of Design in California. After graduating and returning to Italy I was searching for a way to continue making art in the tiny studio apartment I shared with my husband and our cat. This is when I discovered polymer clay. I love the way I am able to mix colors like tubes of paint and form it into any shape or design imaginable. It's my way of creating miniature sculptures or works of art that can be worn and become part of our everyday lives.

I absolutely love what I do. If someone were to ask me what I would do if I could do anything, my answer would be this. Exactly what I am doing. In April of 2013 I opened my very own studio in Florence, something I had dreamt of for as long as I can remember.

Everyday, I am surrounded by art and fashion, both old and new. There is beauty in the simplest things and every corner is a work of art. I believe in bold colors, love at first sight, following your dreams, and that rainy Sunday’s are meant for P.J’s. I trust that everything happens for a reason, that there is always a bright side and that we can do anything we set our minds to.

My greatest pleasures are all things art and fashion, a cat called Michelangelo and a a wonderful man I often refer to as just ‘G’. My pens and closet are organized by color and my bed is always made. I run for fun and have the greatest family and friends a girl could ever ask for.

Hello and Welcome!

The goal of my work is to merge art and fashion and create one-of-a-kind pieces that make a statement and express confidence. I consider myself to be an artist and for me making jewelry is like creating a sculpture that uses the body as its 'pedestal' so to speak. I am also obsessed with color and the way it effects our mood, our personality and the way different colors change and effect various skin tones, therefore, I am devoted to experimenting with unusual combination's and creating pieces that make the wearer truly unique.

The main material that I use in my work is polymer clay. I find the versatility and flexibility of the material, as well as the endless possibilities it offers to be irresistible. I also love that I am able to manipulate it and create anything that I can imagine, meaning that I do not have to rely on pre-made art or jewelry making materials, but rather I get to create these elements myself.

My designs are created with the strong, confidant, outspoken woman in mind. She is style conscience but busy and likes statement pieces that complete her look without having to over-think her accessories. Her easy wardrobe is turned extraordinary with great accessories.

Polymer clay is very durable and easy to care for. To clean your jewelry a damp cloth or Q-tip can be used to wipe items down. You can also use a clean dry paintbrush to remove dust and reaching small crevices. Polymer clay is waterproof, however, I usually do not recommend wearing your jewelry while doing things like washing dishes or showering.
