Bougie Punk fine art exploring strength, presence, and who we were before the world told us to shrink.
The Sovereign Story: Sara Léger Studio
I’ve spent most of my life focused on strength—how it’s built, how it’s lost, and how it changes people when they start to take up space again.
Before returning fully to my studio practice, I founded and operated a women’s strength training facility. It was never just about fitness; it was about discipline, resilience, and the point where women stop shrinking to fit expectations. That same thread runs through my studio today.
I am a formally trained illustrator from Sheridan College, and I work from my Cherry Bomb Studio in Lancaster, Ontario. My practice is deeply rooted in narrative containment. Much of my work is housed within reclaimed 100-year-old windows from Maryvale Abbey—a former Catholic girls’ school—or within ornate Rococo frames finished in matte black.
These materials carry their own history. I’m interested in the tension between that historical restriction and an unapologetic presence. I call it Bougie Punk—refined technique met with a defiant spirit.
My work is represented by Xanadu Gallery and held in private collections across North America, from New York to Los Angeles. I have curated and exhibited alongside contemporary Canadian artists like Jason DeGraff and Pierre Giroux, and was recognized as Artist of the Year for my commitment to art as a declaration, not decoration.
Everything I make is rooted in one idea: Reclaiming YOUR SACRED HEART. The authentic person you were before the world told you who to be.
