So sweet! My customer shared a pic before she opened her package :)

About

Sarah Does Crafts, all the time.

Hello! Sarah Does Crafts is located in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of the piney woods in South Louisiana. The early story of Sarah (who does the crafts) winds all over the place. It starts in Missouri, then a few months later ends up in Arizona, transitions to Alabama, and then back to Arizona. Once adulthood hit, a Louisiana boy won Sarah's heart and the two settled in for the long haul in peaceful Louisiana. Sewing as a hobby was first introduced as a much wanted anniversary gift- a sewing machine and lessons on how to thread the contraption. The first project was a dress, made from a very difficult, disastrous, slippery fabric that should never be used by a beginner. The resulting dress still hangs in the deep recesses of our closet as an homage to progress. That project didn't stop Sarah from sewing, however. In fact it started a lifetime love of all things fabric! The family grew in 2005, 2008, and 2011, adding two daughters and a son. They're such fun little people and Sarah is mentoring them in the fine arts of packaging, sewing straight lines, and cutting fabric. As for the shop, Sarah Does Crafts started selling on Etsy in 2014 after opening the shop in 2013. Why the year delay you might ask? Nerves. Sarah was unsure of what need Sarah Does Crafts would fill, but that all changed the morning she went to use her ministry bag and found that some of the lovely tracts that she was trying to protect with a simple folder from the department store, had become dog eared. That afternoon she set out to find a solution. Turning to her knowledge of fabric and interfacing, she put together a cute little fabric folder with a glittery button decoration and decided use it to protect the corners of the tracts she planned to use later. t turns out there were a lot of fellow Witnesses that needed organizers for their bags too, so the shop took off. Things have been quite a whirlwind and we are so grateful to every customer who chooses Sarah Does Crafts for your handmade sewing needs.

Hi, I'm Sarah. I've developed a love of fabric and sewing over the past 17 years, and I am still very excited by all of the possibilities of what fabric can turn into. I personally cut and sew, and package every item sold in the shop.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

I welcome custom orders! To place a custom order, please use the "request custom order" button here on Etsy and that will open a dialog with me. Then leave the information that you'd like to personalize, such as the size, pocket layout, added or removed features that you'd like for your item, and then send it. I will answer VERY quickly, usually within 4 hours but never longer than 24. Once we've worked out the details of your order, you will need to purchase it and then your part is done! I'll begin sewing it as soon as I can. Custom items are never refundable, so be careful when placing a custom order. If you give me inaccurate info, I can't make your perfect item, and you're stuck with it.

Care instructions

All fabric items can be scotchguarded upon request at no additional charge to you. To care for scotchguarded fabric, simply take a damp cloth with no soap, and gently clean the soiled areas. If you choose not to have your items scotchguarded they can still be cleaned by choosing a gentle cycle on your washing machine, gentle soap and warm water and ***Most importantly*** a color catcher such as those commercially sold in the grocery store. These fabrics have not been laundered before, therefore they are very likely to bleed dye onto each other. The color catcher will allow you to wash these new fabrics and keep them looking new. After laundering, lay it flat until dry, then use a warm iron, carefully avoiding all vinyl, plastic and zippers.

Sizing details

The deluxe and full sized magazine holders can hold all of the magazines, books, and brochures published by Jehovahs Witnesses, that are typically 7inches wide by 9 inches tall. The tract folders can hold the tall tracts (also published by Jehovah's Witnesses) that are 9 inches tall by 3.75 inches tall when folded. Invitation holders are sized to fit the memorial and assembly invitations that are 4.5 inches tall by 7 inches wide.

Purses, tote bags, wallets and other items will have an approximate size given to allow you to gauge the size, and determine if that size will work for you.

Wholesale availability

Wholesale purchases are not available from my store. I offer my best prices to all customers at all times.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Gift wrapping is available ONLY as a custom order and will be charged according to the intricacy of the wrap requested. I use colorful, pretty poly mailer bags. I will send your invoice along with your package, unless you request that I don't.

Are you a J.W?

Yes I am! Baptized in 1993 at age 15, I've been a member of the Abita Springs Louisiana congregation since December of 1999 but recently moved into Highland Park in May 2018. If youre in the area, come say hello!

Why don't you accept returns?

The short answer is that I take great care to provide lovely handmade items at a fair price, and I want you to keep them! The longer answer is that I also have no way of knowing how the item was treated after it was delivered. You may have allergens in your home that don't bother you but bother others (pets, plants, cleaning supplies etc). I have had this policy since my shop opened. All sales are final, darlin!
