I have a special fondness for vintage clothing, vanity items, old books and paper, vintage ads, children’s toys, beautiful linens, bone china tea cups, and mid-century pottery. But you’re likely to find just about anything here if you hang around long enough - because I love it all!

I enjoy getting email, so please don't hesitate to stop by for a chat - or to ask a question before making a purchase. I'm happy to assist you!

About

A Sip of Vintage Goodness Each Day...

It seems that I've always had a fascination with old things. I think it started back when I was a little girl and happened to discover some 1930's toys and old magazines stashed away in a dark cubbyhole in the basement of the home my parents had just purchased from my grandparents. Those old toys and books captured my imagination like nothing else had before.

For years afterwards, I often had dreams of wandering through a Victorian mansion searching for hidden treasures...

In my shop, I'll be taking you with me on that treasure hunt. One by one, we'll be looking through stacks of old magazines, books and paper ephemera, piles of vintage clothing and accessories, boxes of intriguing estate sale finds. I've been passionately collecting a lot of history over the years and am excited to share my discoveries with you!

Stay and shop a while, won't you please? Here's the link: SIPofSarsaparilla.etsy.com

***************************************************

SIP of Sarsaparilla is dedicated to... my two favorite little “Sips” who somehow survived a childhood of “Mom’s old junk” scattered throughout every room of the house.

And...I would be remiss if I didn’t also give a shout-out to my eight amazing sibs and wonderful parents whose influence on me runs deep. If I am kind, honest, and service-oriented in my business, you can thank my parents for that.

Did I tell you that my father ran a small town variety store, featuring an amazing candy counter and endless comic books to read? Perhaps that’s a story for another time...

Shop policies

Last updated on April 30, 2016
Because much of what I sell has been around at least 40 to 100 years or more, I do my best to inspect each item carefully and describe it thoroughly - including the flaws - so that there will be no surprises when it arrives at your door!

You have my guarantee that I sell only authentic vintage or antique items - no reproductions (unless clearly stated in my description).

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Interested in reserving an item? Send me an email, and I'll happily hold it for three days. If payment isn't received on the fourth day, I will remove the reserve and make the item available to other buyers.
Shipping
My goal is 5-star shipping service! Rest assured that all items are packed very carefully in a cushioned or rigid container to ensure that they arrive safely.

I do my best to keep your shipping costs as low as possible. Please know that I'm HAPPY TO COMBINE items into one package - but only IF they can be safely shipped together. Ask ahead for the combined cost - or just go ahead and purchase the items! I will immediately REIMBURSE you if you've paid $1.50 or more over the USPS online shipping cost for your combined package.

I use the United States Postal Service (USPS) for shipping: First Class, if the package is under 1 pound, and Priority Mail if it's heavier. I ship very heavy books (without ads) by Media Mail to save you money. But I am flexible - just let me know if you have another shipping preference.

Your shipping charge is based on the online USPS calculated shipping fee. I always check the packaged weight of each item before listing it for sale. But occasionally the package turns out to cost less than expected - especially if you live in the Midwest near my home. If so, I will happily reimburse you for any overcharge of $1.50 or more. Sometimes the shipping costs more than what you've paid - if so, that's your bonus!

Since I am a small, part-time seller - at this time, I am shipping to United States customers only. No International buyers, please. Thank you for understanding.
Refunds and Exchanges
My general policy is "No Returns" unless I have made a significant error in my description.

Luckily for both of us - I tend to be quite meticulous when writing my item descriptions, including any issues, flaws or wear - so the need for a refund has been rare, in my experience.

However, because it's important to me that you are happy with your purchase, I will occasionally make an exception to my "significant error" rule. Just ask nicely - I am a kind and reasonable person :)

If your request for a return is valid, the item must be packaged carefully and mailed to me in its original condition, within 5 business days after it was delivered to you. Once I receive it, I will reimburse you for the full amount of your cost for the item. If the error was mine, I will also reimburse you for the initial shipping charge - so your only cost will be return shipping. Sound fair?
