Carrie studied design at duCret School of Art before beginning her career as a fashion forecaster and design, color, and trend presentation consultant for the company Kids à la Mode/ Kids R Us in addition to working with the company Sweet Tulip learning production of the home goods industry. In 2010, Carrie entered into the executive side of the home goods industry by accepting a position as Production Princess at The Macbeth Collection by Margaret Josephs. For eight years Carrie worked as Chief Operations Officer at Jordy by Chris Stephenson, a custom dance costume company. While there, she eagerly managed all aspects of the company and helped dress the biggest names in ballroom dancing, including the ten-time World Professional Latin Dance Champions Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagoruychenko. Carrie’s time at Jordy greatly deepened her passion and appreciation for the fashion industry and, more specifically, the dance costume community. It is with this passion, energy, and appreciation that Carrie began heading up Not Just Tutus. A month into running Not Just Tutus, a friend asked Carrie to make a parade sash as the woman who made them had retired. While working day in and day out for 3 months on Irish parade sashes- Sashay Studio was born incorporating her love of dancing and sewing!

Carrie’s mantra “it doesn’t matter if you dance, it matters that you know what’s important to people who dance” is what has guided her to leap wholeheartedly into her career, and is truly emblematic of her deep admiration for costume design.
