About

How SawyerSewing started...

My name is Meg Sawyer and my love for sewing began when I was ten years old. My grandmother would spend hours at her sewing machine as I would watch in awe. When I was old enough, she taught me the basics of the machine and the art of sewing. I began making handbags out of my old jeans and assortments of other accessories.
I continued my hobby of sewing as I grew older and started making quilts for friends, family and donated a few to charity. Over the years, I've researched and taught myself how to use different techniques with other areas of sewing and quilting.

In January 2013, I opened up an Etsy account and sold my handmade items and soon had a pretty well-known business, SawyerSewing. Since then I have sold my items in four stores in Union County and sold at a few craft fairs. I make custom-ordered quilts and continue to run my Etsy account selling smaller items: handbags, pouches and other accessories. I am a sewing instructor in Cranford, Westfield and Hoboken, NJ.

I love creating. There's nothing more satisfying than taking fabric and turning it into something functional, useful and of course... Cute!
