About

Hand-sewn in my tiny home in Alaska, SAXI BAGS are inspired by my love of yarn, color, and my favorite wildflower, the Prickly Saxifrage.

SAXI BAGS is all about celebrating color, creativity, and beauty for beauty's sake.

I'm passionate about YARN, persnickety about colors, and perfectionistic about craftsmanship. I love toting my WIPs around in beautiful matching project bags that are stylistically enticing and super functional. Both sewing and knitting are loves of mine - I find the creative process to be very fulfilling. Working with my hands and bringing something new to life is incredibly meditative.

All my bags are hand-sewn in my tiny house in Kenai, Alaska where I live happily with my husband, Craig, and two pups, Jack and Hugo. We love adventuring in the outdoors, especially boating, and I find much of my inspiration from the great Alaskan wilderness. In winter, I enjoy snowshoeing, Nordic walking, and knitting - the colors of my project bags take me back to summer the entire, cold winter long! In summer, I am a chronic wildflower hunter and hit the trails with camera in hand, pups in tow, nearly every day.

The flower that started it all, the Prickly Saxifrage, I first found underfoot on one of our boating trips to the lake. I have been fascinated and inspired by them ever since. I thought them so brave to live without inhibition, fully embracing their short little lives, difficult environments, and blooming for the sake of blooming. But wildflowers have no choice in the matter - they know not the harshness of their conditions nor the beauty of their petals. They live without having to know they will soon die and be rejoined with the earth. I have come to realize that what is truly brave is to live like a wildflower despite being conscious of all that challenges our existence, to grasp hold of life, aware of all its struggles, yet still choose to be wide open to it. The little blossoms sparked in me a desire to simply LIVE. Wildflowers have become a powerful reminder of what is possible if I make the choice to root down, grow up, and bloom. Hence SAXI BAGS!

I hope to share the spirit of the wildflower with each bag I create.

All proceeds go to help off-set the extraordinary medical costs of living with Ehlers – Danlos Syndrome. Your support is greatly appreciated :)

NOTE ON THE ABOVE VIDEO: Created by my husband Craig with his drone, this is our most recent boat trip to our favorite lake where I first discovered the Prickly Saxifrage. If you pay attention, you can even see me down on the ground taking photos of this year's flowers!
