Wearable Sculpture, Forged by Hand
Saxon Burns is a Phoenix-based metalsmith, poet, and former journalist whose jewelry sits at the intersection of sculpture, architecture, and wearable art.
He studied metalworking at Parkland College in Illinois under sculptor and metalsmith Denise Seif, where his silver pieces were selected for juried student and regional art exhibitions. He continues to develop his craft through classes at KP Studios in Phoenix. Every piece is fabricated by hand in his home workshop using traditional bench techniques.
Saxon holds a master's degree in creative writing and spent years as a journalist known for sharp, funny, grounded reporting at the Tucson Weekly. He has also been recognized for his photography. That layered background shows in the work: pieces that have a point of view, a sense of humor, and a little grit beneath the polish.
His jewelry draws on architectural forms — the geometry of buildings, the weight of raw materials, the beauty of oxidation and patina over time. Each piece is an object made to be worn, and worn hard.
Saxon grew up in Tucson and now lives in Phoenix with a parrot who has strong opinions and more rabbits than he'll admit to.
All pieces ship from Phoenix, Arizona.
