About

Museums, miniatures and my wacky imagination = 'Scaling Down the Past'

When I was growing up I wanted to live in the Field Museum of Natural History (in Chicago). My parents wouldn't let me. I'm not sure I've forgiven them. If nothing else, the food would have been better (sorry, mom). I couldn't get enough of dinosaur bones, fossils, prehistoric artifacts, etc. I was particularly obsessed with the 'stuffed' animal collection. I continue to believe the taxidermied animals died of natural causes and all willed their bodies to science. I'm sure they had donor cards. They just didn't have pockets to put them in. Also in Chicago, frequent visits to the Thorne Rooms and Colleen Moore's exquisite fairy castle fueled my appreciation for miniatures.

Fast forward to far too many decades later--now in Seattle. I've kept my old passions and added some new ones. With the combination of an active imagination, collecting miniatures for years, and never fully growing up, I started to Scale Down the Past in my own creative way. Well, it was either this or become a goat herder. And I'm just not that good with directions......

Thanks for visiting!

What does an Anthropology major who studied primates--a past playwright--and a dog counselor have in common? I've no idea...but that's me. I live in Seattle (which I love) with my husband (who I adore) and gleefully exercise my artistic side.
