Welcome to Melanie Casey!

Hello! We are Melanie Casey & team. Our studio is north of Boston, MA, where we brainstorm, design, and build original designs piece by piece right in-house. We are also lucky enough to have support from our mascot Betty, our ever-growing Bernese Mountain Dog.

Melanie's antique-inspired fine jewelry designs are created using precious and semi-precious gemstones, diamonds, and solid 14k gold. Our line features skillfully crafted engagement rings, limited edition collections, and signature staple pieces essential for your jewelry box.

We do not believe in mass-producing products to "look" handmade. Your hammered rings will be hammered by hand by one of our skilled jewelry artists, and each stone will be set carefully by hand. Melanie is extremely involved in production, and spends many hours on the bench per week. She puts her hands and careful eye on every single piece of jewelry that is made in our studio, which ensures the high quality of the jewelry you will cherish for generations.

In an industry that is constantly evolving, we are eager to continue to learn, adapt, grow, and experiment with our artisan jewelry line. We keep the collection fresh by constantly brainstorming new layouts, techniques, and styles. We love mixing and matching different cuts and colors of gemstones, and sourcing new, rare stones for limited edition collections. Each design specification (like metal color, finish, stone choice and design orientation) are thought through in great detail ahead of production to provide you with a wide line of delicate, sparkly jewelry!

Each Melanie Casey piece is created with mindfulness for you and for our environment. We are committed to using only ethically sourced diamonds, gemstones and recycled metals to ensure top quality and environmentally friendly practices.

We take great pride in our work, and we believe that the happiness of our clients is paramount to what we do. We are a friendly, helpful bunch, so please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions!

Hello, and welcome!

We are Melanie Casey & team, located in North Andover, MA (about 30 minutes north of Boston). We have just moved into our new showroom, and will begin accepting appointments in November 2016. Please contact us to be added to our address book if you'd like to be scheduled for an appointment when we're ready!

We hand-craft our delicate 14k gold jewelry with ethically-sourced precious and semi-precious gemstones and recycled gold. We specialize in heirloom wedding bands, engagement rings, and statement pieces as well as everyday rings, stud earrings, cuff bracelets and necklaces.

Layaway

If you would like to pay for your jewelry in installments instead of all at once, we can set up a layaway plan for you! Please contact us directly if you would like to set up a layaway plan.

♦ A non-refundable deposit is required to place a ready-to-ship item on hold for layaway.

♦ If the piece you plan to order is made-to-order, full payment is required before production can begin.

♦ If the piece you plan to order is ready-to-ship, full payment is required before we can ship your jewelry.

♦ Please note that ALL layaway payments are *non-refundable*. If you change your mind or stop making payments, we cannot refund you.

♦ If no payments have been made within 6 months, any pieces that have been placed on hold for you will be subject to forfeit.

♦ Jewelry purchased through this program is *final sale* and cannot be returned for a refund.
Shipping
♦ Shipping is a flat rate charge, regardless of the number of items in your order.
♦ You are responsible for all shipping costs to and from our studio.
♦ You are responsible for providing us with an accurate, reliable, and safe mailing address. We will ship to the exact mailing address that you provide at check-out.

Rush Orders

♦ Please contact us before ordering if you are in a rush to receive your jewelry, and please specify your exact deadline. We will be in touch to let you know if we can meet your deadline.

♦ We accept RUSH requests for domestic and international orders. Please note that not all rush requests will be accommodated.

♦ If we are able to accommodate your timeline, we can accept your order as a "RUSH". This will make your order a top priority, on schedule to be finished and shipped before our regular estimated production time. Please note that a rush fee will be charged for this expedited service, and it will be required that you opt for the fastest shipping method offered to best ensure your order reaches you in time.

♦ RUSH fees will not be refunded in the event of a return or exchange.

Domestic Shipping (to clients within the U.S.)

♦ Shipping costs to and from our studio are the responsibility of the buyer.

♦ When you receive your shipment notification on Etsy, please allow an additional business day for processing with our shipping carriers. Tracking may not update right away.

♦ Shipping methods: USPS First Class (3-5 business days), USPS Priority Mail (2-3 business days), USPS Priority Express Mail (1-2 business days), UPS 2-Day (2 full business days)

♦ An adult signature may be required at the time of delivery.

♦ For high value packages we ship securely with UPS or FedEx, with full insurance, tracking, and an adult (21+) signature required upon delivery.

♦ If you live in a busy city, apartment, or if your order is valued over $250 usd, an adult (21+) signature will be required upon delivery.

International Shipping (to clients outside of the U.S.)

♦ Shipping costs to and from our studio are the responsibility of the buyer.

♦ When you receive your shipment notification on Etsy, please allow an additional business day for processing with our shipping carriers. Tracking may not update right away.

♦ International orders with a value below $400 usd will ship with USPS First Class Mail, and will include full insurance. These packages can take up to five weeks for delivery due to the amount of time that your package takes to process through your country's customs office, especially during the winter holidays.

♦ If your order ships with USPS First Class International Mail, your shipping notification will include a tracking number provided through Etsy. Please note that tracking may only show progress as your package moves through the U.S. Postal System - once your package leaves the U.S., the tracking number may stop updating. Your country's postal system will take over from there, and will be responsible for safe delivery of your package.

♦ International orders with a value over $400 usd will be sent with FedEx Priority International Mail. These shipments typically take between 1-5 business days for delivery, depending on where you are located and how long it takes for your country's customs office to process the package.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS - IMPORTANT NOTE - Additional fees may apply.

To all international buyers:

Your country's customs office may require you to pay a VAT/import fee before they deliver your package. We are not aware of the laws from one country to the next, and we will not be responsible for those fees. Contact your customs office directly if you have specific questions about these fees. If you refuse to pay for the fees associated with your shipment, the package will be returned to our studio in the U.S. by default. If this occurs, we will attempt to contact you in case there was an error. However, if we cannot reach you or if you have changed your mind, we will refund your order MINUS the 15% restocking fee and shipping charge (please see our Returns section for more information).

♦ Some countries/regions that our clients have reported to require VAT fees: UK, Greece, Israel, Canada, Spain, Chile (this is a growing list, so please contact your country's customs office directly if you are concerned about facing import fees)

Lost Packages

Always contact us immediately in the event that your package is lost in transit. Insurance coverage is time-sensitive, so no time should be wasted if you have not received your package within the predicted window of time.

♦ Domestic lost packages (within the U.S.):
Any orders that USPS/UPS/FedEx marked as "delivered" and are subsequently lost or stolen before reaching the customer will require a *replacement fee* to remake the order. Please first contact your local postal carrier in the event that your package is marked as "delivered" through USPS/UPS/FedEx but is not in your possession, as packages may require *signature confirmation*. Contact us if you are still not able to locate your package.

♦ International lost packages (outside the U.S.):
For lost parcels, we must wait 45 days (from the date the package was shipped) to file an insurance claim for international locations, as the package may still be processing through international customs. Please attempt to contact your customs office to check on the status of your package - it is possible it is there, awaiting your payment of VAT/import fees. Claims must be filed no later than 90 days from the shipment date. If the package is in fact lost or stolen and the client did not declare the package missing within 90 days, a refund *cannot* be issued to the customer. If the customer wishes to replace the missing order, a *replacement fee* will be charged to the customer.
Refunds and Exchanges
Returns

Please contact us with any questions prior to purchasing to avoid returns.

♦ Returns must be made within 30 days of the date that the buyer receives the item in the mail.

♦ Refunds for returns will be issued only once the jewelry has been returned to our studio.

♦ All returns must be in new, unworn condition. Jewelry sent back to us for a return must come with its original packaging and paperwork. Otherwise, surcharges will apply.

♦ Shipping fees cannot be refunded for returns. The buyer is responsible for return shipping to our studio.

♦ RUSH fees will not be refunded in the event of a return or exchange.

♦ Tier 1 Return – 15% restocking fee. This includes most items in the collection, unless otherwise stated within the specific product description.

♦ Tier 2 Return – 30% restocking fee. This includes select items in the collection (to be specified within the specific product description), and original designs from the collection that have been altered (band upgrades, swapped stones, etc.) specifically for your order.

♦ Tier 3 Return – Final Sale. This includes engraved and sale items. These items cannot be returned.

Resizing / Refinishing / Repair

We will always resize, refinish, and repair your Melanie Casey jewelry.

♦ We strongly advise that you accurately determine your ring size with our tools prior to ordering. Not all jewelers use exactly the same sizing scale, so please contact us to request a complimentary plastic ring sizer to find your general measurement.

♦ We most highly recommend using our sterling silver Perfect Fit Ring Sizer to avoid unnecessary resizing costs!

♦ We offer one free resize per order. Additional resizing services will incur service fees.

♦ We require a 30% resizing fee for all eternity band resize requests, as this requires us to remake the ring entirely. To best avoid this, please use our Perfect Fit Sizing System, as recommended above.

♦ We offer a 3 year warranty for your Melanie Casey jewelry. We will service your jewelry for free for up to 3 years of your purchase date. Some exclusions apply.

♦ If you have taken your Melanie Casey jewelry to another jeweler for service of any kind, this voids our normal warranty.

♦ No warranty is available on center stones valued over $500 usd.

♦ Always contact us right away if your Melanie Casey jewelry becomes damaged.

♦ The buyer is responsible for shipping to and from our studio.

Exchanges

We do accept exchanges, excluding Final Sale items.

♦ We will accept exchanges for items that were purchased from our regular collection under $1500 usd, without withholding any restocking fee.

♦ Original designs from the collection that were altered for your order (ie. band upgrades, swapped stones, etc.) can be exchanged, however there will be a 30% restocking fee.

♦ For items over $1500 usd, there will be a 30% restocking fee charged if an exchange is requested.

♦ Shipping fees cannot be refunded for exchanges.

♦ Limit one exchange per order.

♦ Your new piece will not be shipped until we have received back the original piece for exchange.

♦ You will be responsible for all shipping costs to and from our studio.

♦ Exchanges must be made within 30 days of initially receiving your jewelry from us.

♦ Jewelry sent back to us for exchange must be in its new, unworn condition with its original packaging and paperwork. Otherwise, surcharges will apply.

What's the difference between Bright vs. Matte?

Our bright polish is a shiny finish seen most traditionally on gold jewelry. Our brushed matte finish is more rustic and organic, with a less reflective shine than our bright polish.

How do I find my size?

We measure in US ring sizes. We offer whole, half, and quarter sizes. Some sizes are not available.

Even if you have been sized somewhere else before, we highly recommend using our sizing tools for proper measurement for our jewelry. Sizing can vary a bit from one jeweler to the next, so using our tools will best ensure a proper fit on the first try.

We'll be happy to send you a complimentary plastic sizer! Select the "US Ring Sizer" option from the drop-down menu at check-out.

For the most accurate sizing, we highly recommend our Perfect Fit sizer. This is especially recommended for anyone ordering an eternity band, a wide band or large set of stacking rings, or for anyone whose fingers may be tricky to size: http://etsy.me/2c

Can I customize this design?

We put a great amount of time, thought, energy and care into each design in our collection. It is quite costly to customize a design, because it requires hours of additional labor and often requires us to order new materials for the customization.

It is much easier for us to make little adjustments to a design. If you are interested in swapping out a gemstone, upgrading your diamonds, or upgrading the thickness of your ring band, please contact us directly, and we'll let you know if we can alter the design in that way. Additional fees will apply.

What is the current production time?

Most of our pieces, unless explicitly marked as "Ready to Ship" within the listing description, are made-to-order. Due to our high order volume, current production time is about 4-6 weeks (+shipping), but we do our best to get orders in the mail as quickly as possible.

Select items from the collection will be "Ready to Ship" for the winter holiday season starting in November 2016.

Can this be gift wrapped?

Your jewelry will come in our custom Melanie Casey gift packaging, which includes a jewelry pouch and small jewelry gift box, ready for gift-giving!

And not to worry, the paperwork included in your shipping box will not include any pricing information, so we can ship directly to your recipient!

If you would like a gift note to be included, please write your preferred gift message in "quotes" in the Notes section at check out.

How should I take care of my jewelry?

We offer cleaning, resizing, repair and refinishing services for the lifetime of your jewelry - just reach out to us!

Here are some helpful tips to keep your jewelry in top shape:

♦ To best combat the residue buildup that comes with regular wear, you can clean your jewelry regularly at home with warm water, gentle soap, and a soft toothbrush.

♦ To maintain the integrity of your jewelry, remove your jewelry before showering, gardening or doing outside work, using cleaning chemicals, applying makeup and lotions, swimming, and exercising. Exposure to any harsh chemicals or heavy pressure will put your jewelry at risk.

♦ Store your jewelry in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box.
