About

Fall/Winter 2017 collection: All items help rural schoolchildren in Ethiopia. Ethiopian Children's appeal was founded 15 years ago.

I started helping rural schoolchildren and HIV/AIDS orphans while living in Ethiopia in 2000 and working for the UN. I then used my passion for making beautiful jewelry to raise funds for this cause. All proceeds from the Etsy shop, Schoolery: jewels for schools, go to help rural schoolchildren with nutrition, classrooms, libraries, health clinics, solar light and organic farms as well as vocational training.

On September 13, 2014 my UN colleagues and I won the UN 21 Award for volunteerism. We were awarded this prize by UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon.
