About

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

We are Vanessa and Darren - the couple behind Scout & Whistle.

We migrated from Brooklyn, NY and now live in Portland, Oregon with our shepherd-mutt extraordinaire G. Combining our love of modern design, natural history, and cabin life, we make housewares that are perfect for your imaginary A-frame in the woods. All of our products are handmade here in Portland with materials made in the Pacific Northwest.

We are inspired by old thrift shops in tiny, dusty towns, hiking in the Columbia River Gorge, camping in redwoods, road-tripping down Highway 1, Wes Anderson’s worlds, This American Life and as much music as we can get our paws on.

When we aren’t working on Scout & Whistle, Darren is a filmmaker and animator and Vanessa is an illustrator and craft stylist. You can find more of our work here: pasemko.com & vanessaboer.com
