Fritzie, my bluebird, is everything and more than I expected! Sheri's talent and sense of humor is so great! I love her work and now am the proud owner of 3 of her creations! Sheri, you always amaze me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Pat Sherwood

LOVE my big flower!!! It's beautiful and fun. It is in our front yard, and we get lots of compliments. Thanks, Sheri.

About

ScrapHound Studio: giving rusty steel a chance to shine.

Back in 1992, I (Sheri) took a welding class on a whim. I fell head-over-heels in love with steel within the first moments of the class. Putting on the goggles, donning a huge pair of gloves, lighting the torch and slicing through the steel that first time... it was one of those moments when you know your life is about to change. And change it did! My series of animals started back then with a scrap piece of rusty sheet metal that kind of looked like a tail. I put it together with a few other scraps, added whiskers and suddenly there was a kooky cat in front of me. He made me laugh so I made another. Then a dog and a couple of birds. I joined a gallery, I made more animals, I quit my day job. I made dozens of kooky critters and sold in galleries across the country.

And then in 2001 I met Jon at the local arts co-op... another of those moments you know everything is about to change. I needed an assistant, he wanted to learn to weld. He moved in and we discovered we shared an enduring love of rusty scrap metal... and each other.

And then *boom* life changed again. I took over a retail art gallery and put my artwork on hold while Jon took over the shop and developed his funky line of rustic-industrial furniture and sculpture.

After 10 years we closed the gallery and finally we are both back in the shop full time making fun, quirky, contemporary, rustic, industrial furniture and sculpture for homes and gardens. We both love the nature of steel, the rust, the pits, the natural character that it develops when left to its own devices.

Our work is based on the simple principal of using items discarded by others and allowing their quirky characteristics drive our designs. We try not to take ourselves too seriously, we just love what we do and really love sharing it with others. We also enjoy collaborating with friends and those pieces will also pop up in our shop on occasion. We hope you enjoy your visit!

Thanks for visiting ScrapHound Studio, the collaborative effort of Sheri Fox and Jon Rawlinson. We hope you enjoy your visit and find something wonderful for your home, or someone else's! As you can see, we love working with our hands, bashing and beating the hell out of metal. We enjoy making fun, whimsical and dramatic pieces of art from salvaged steel. Every piece is one-of-a-kind and completely handmade by us in San Diego, CA.

Jon and I love the challenge of creating new things from discarded or unloved items. We prefer to get materials from the scrap pile rather than buy them new. Our work is influenced by the beauty we find in the natural character, flaws and all, of the steel. Jon's work is influenced by the 18 months he spent living and working in Spain and the artists who created his surroundings - Dalí, Gaudi, and Picasso. I just love animals and enjoy trying to capture their inner goofy spirits. If one of my sculptures makes you smile then I've done my job!

We are easy to work with and enjoy sharing ideas and info. If you have any questions or need more information about an item please convo us and we'll get back to you asap. Thanks!

Shipping
----- General Shipping Info ----

We ship from Petaluma, CA. Built-to-order items ship in 4-6 weeks. If you need something faster please ask! We can sometimes rearrange our building schedule to accommodate faster turnaround with no extra charge.

Existing items ship within 3-5 days of receipt of payment unless otherwise arranged. Tracking information will be provided.

To keep postage costs down, we do not insure our small shipments. We have nearly 20 years' experience shipping artwork and are confident that your package will arrive safely, but if you would like your delivery insured, let us know and be prepared to pay an additional amount for this.

If an item arrives damaged - insured or not - please contact us immediately. If your item has not arrived after 14 days, please contact us.

---- Shipping Methods ----

Sculptures will ship via the best method according to their size. FedEx Ground is our preferred method. Smaller items generally ship via USPS First Class or Priority Mail.

We ship safely but can't promise anything fancy. We re-use materials whenever possible and prefer to invest in fabrication materials instead of pretty boxes.

--- Customs Fees & Duties ---

International buyers: please be aware that your payment covers only actual shipping charges. You may be responsible for additional customs fees or taxes upon receipt of a package. We are unable to predict or prevent these fees. If you have any questions, please check with your local customs organization.
Refunds and Exchanges
--- Returns ---
Most items can be returned for any reason if they are posted back to us within 14 days of receipt of an item. Please contact us prior to shipping to confirm that the return is acceptable and with the details for returning the item.

Custom orders that we can resell may be returned for half of the purchase price or exchanged for an item of similar value.

All items must be returned to us in the same condition as they were received by you.

Please note that unless the return is due to our error, shipping costs for both the delivery and the return are your responsibility.

If an item is damaged in transit back to us, we may be unable to refund the full or total cost, so please ensure items are well packaged and insured and/or tracked.

--- Exchanges ---
We can usually offer an exchange for any reason within 14 days of receipt of an item. Please contact us prior to returning the item to confirm that the exchange is acceptable and provide us with the postage details for the return.

Custom-made items may not be acceptable for an exchange if they cannot be resold.

Items must be returned in the same condition as they were received.

If you do wish to make an exchange you will need to pay both your own costs for returning the original item to me, along with costs of shipping the replacement back to you. However, this is not the case if the exchange is due to a fault or error on my part.

--- Faulty Items or Other Errors ---
In the rare case of faulty items or any errors on our part, we will replace the item/s or reimburse you for the purchase up to three months after the sale, by which time any faults should have become apparent. This does not include rust, which is a natural and expected result of Sheri's steel sculptures coming into contact with salt air or water.

If you wish to return or have a faulty item replaced, please contact us as soon as possible to describe the problem and arrange to resolve the issue.
Additional policies and FAQs
Most of our items are built to order. We know this can be nerve-wracking but we guarantee that you will be happy with the results.

You will always receive a photo of your custom built item before we ship. When we receive your approval the piece will go out. If changes need to be made or you are not happy for any reason please let us know. We will always do our best to get you a piece you love, even if we have to try a couple times!
