My favorite artist. My favorite painting. The only problem that I had was deciding which painting to purchase! They were all wonderful. I knew when I first saw Jamie's work that I had to have one of her paintings. She has a bright future ahead of her.

We LOVE this painting. We took a leap of faith and purchased it having only seen it on the Etsy website whilst sitting in our living room in Australia. We are so glad we did! It has truly added wonderfully happy and dramatic colour and interest to our home. Thank you Jamie Elizabeth. We couldn't be happier! Best regards, Susan and Tom
Jamie Elizabeth Hudrlik is a visual artist living in the Midwest. She grew up in Iowa and has been drawing and painting ever since she can remember. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BFA in painting with additional studies in children’s book illustration at The School of Visual Arts in New York City. Currently she is working as an artist and a self-employed co-owner of an online vintage shop on Etsy.com called Dirty Birdies Vintage / http://www.etsy.com/shop/dirtybirdiesvintage
Hudrlik’s large scale evocative paintings are on unstretched canvas and combine female figures, botanical elements and symbolic animals to create surreal and fantastical worlds. Personal and poetic explorations about growing up in the Midwest and her brilliantly vivid wild flower garden are significant sources of inspiration. Experimenting with various media such as acrylic paint, pencil, marker, oil crayon, stamps and stencils help enhance the fantastical landscape in each painting. She builds layers of saturated color, paint drips and texture and then wipes away parts of the wet paint to create an etherial space and to add dimension.
While attending school, she was awarded the Weisman Grant to help complete a series of twenty-six large scale mixed media paintings entitled The Alphabet Series. Her paintings have been exhibited in numerous group and solo shows throughout the Midwest. The Alphabet Series was exhibited as solo show in at The Iowa State Memorial Union in Ames, Iowa in 2006. Her newest body of work Wonder Land was exhibited and featured at The Chait Galleries in Iowa City, Iowa in 2009 and as a solo show at The Iowa State Memorial Union in Ames, Iowa in 2010. In addition to exhibitions, Hudrlik has been successfully selling her paintings to private collectors across the US and abroad.
