Grain & Grammar
From a very young age I have always had an inherent desire to make things and, being a Carpenter's daughter, it was probably inevitable that I would grow up loving the smell of sawdust and working with wood.
After a degree in 3D Design (specialising in Furniture Design), a career of 20+ years so far as a Graphic Designer (still my day job!) and a successful Etsy business focusing on fabric printing I'm now excited to be combining all of this experience with my love of typography to create products that I love and would have in my own home.
Sustainability is important to me and all of the wood I use has been sourced from a local furniture production business and would otherwise have gone to waste. It's nice to think I can salvage offcuts which were destined to be sent to the incinerator and make something lovely from them. The majority of the wood used is hardwood so won't warp over time like softwoods can. I sand, paint and treat all of the designs with a non-solvent matt lacquer to protect them and ensure they last without the unappealing 'shiny' effect many lacquers and varnishes have.
I love designing and making custom items and particularly enjoy the stories and creativity behind these, so if there's something specific you're looking for or would like me to create for you please don't hesitate to get in touch!
