These are beautiful. I can't wait to show them off. Thanks so much.
Why Second Chances?
Second chances. As I have contemplated the art of taking recyclable paper and creating with it a thing of beauty, worth adorning our ears, necks, wrists, and ankles, I couldn't help but realize the comparison of the restorative beauty we have in Jesus Christ. He takes our broken, tired, old souls and washes them clean, brand new, bright, and glorious. Simply beautiful.
I started making jewelry as a means to create what I couldn't really afford. A wonderful friend showed me the basics of bead rolling and I've been playing with paper, fabric, beads, and colors ever since. I truly think of each piece of jewelry as an extention of myself, where I am in life, a reflection of my soul, my struggles and triumphs, just as a painter expresses him/her self with each stroke of the paint brush! Although some pieces may be similar, I can garuntee you that each and every piece is unique, with not one duplicated ... ever. Just as we are all similar, we are also stunningly distinct.
Coming from a large family, and having six amazing children of my own, I have learned to be frugal. Making things from scratch, growing our own food in a large garden, and preserving that food (just like Grandma did) is frugality at it's finest. As I've grown into motherhood I've realized the importance of natural health and found how easy it was to incorporate medicinal herbs into my gardens. From tinctures, to salves, to soaps, it's all a means of keeping my family whole and healthy, leaving all those nasty chemicals on the store shelves. It is my delight to share with you the things that I have found to work so well for me and my family.
Having so many little blessings around, vying for my love, affection, and attention, you can be sure I have a hard time just sitting and relaxing. I have purposefully made myself sit down and just be still only to then find myself wandering around, wondering what I was doing. Oh right! I was supposed to be relaxing! So, to keep my butt on the couch and actually rest, I took up knitting and crocheting. Keeping my hands busy keeps me still. Go figure! I can pray, meditate, or just zone with the repetition of it.
So here, you have it. These are the things that get my creative juices flowing, even if they are practical items.
