Awesome candles with a great smell. I'll be definitely ordering more.

A second chance for cat food tins

My 11-year-old cat, Hollingsworth, was diagnosed with diabetes in early 2012. In addition to the learning to cope with the twice-daily insulin injections (for a cat!), I also learned that a lot of commercial dry food is apparently terrible for indoor cats. The vet instructed me to feed poor Holly only canned wet food for the rest of his life.

Two weeks into Holly's new diet, those cans were starting to pile up around the kitchen. I felt terrible throwing them away, but wasn't really convinced that my local recycling program was doing any actual recycling. I had to find a way to reuse the cat food tins.

I decided to start making candles. With two cats in a small apartment, I was always worried about my home smelling like, well, cats--and so I was constantly burning candles anyway. Making candles was a guaranteed way to ensure I'd always have loads of sweet-smelling fragrances on hand. Things got out of control quickly as I fell in love with making candles, and they started stacking up around my place faster than I could burn them.

So now here I am, selling them to you. The cat-food-tin candles are priced low because, well, it doesn't cost me much to make them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, and hey...try to find a creative way to reuse your tins if you can!

Shop policies

Last updated on November 28, 2012
Thanks for visiting my shop! I'll continue to update the shop with new candles, scents, and styles, so please add me to your favorites and check in regularly!

One thing I want to emphasize: most of my candles are hand-poured into recycled cat food tins. The tins have been cleaned (and no longer smell like meat pate, I promise) but the edge around the lip may be sharp, so handle them mindfully, and please keep your kiddies away from the candles. Which is a good philosophy for candles in general, anyway. :)
