Announcement   WELCOME TO MY SHOP!
I make all my mosaic pieces by hand, most of which are items from thrift stores, which I buy and make "beautiful" again. They make great, one-of-a-kind, gifts....or an artistic conversation piece for your home!

Other pieces in my shop include handmade stitchery, jewelry, this and that, plus some vintage items I have found in my jaunts through thrift stores, looking for pieces to "upcycle" by making new and beautiful again.

Please also visit my other etsy shop – Second Look Photo. THANKS!

Randi was very communicative and kept me updated on the status of my order. She sent extra supplies and directions, which facilitated my use of the product. And last but not least, the numbers look beautiful!!

About

Giving Second-hand Pieces a Second Chance.

The concept for my shop, Second Look Mosaics, is that I find pieces that have been discarded, like ones we find in thrift stores that we ordinarily wouldn't give a "second look," and turn them into new and beautiful works of art. Things like used picture frames with scratches or mars, old clocks, mirrors, jewelry boxes, etc... I picture how I can bring these pieces "back to life", so to speak.. Then I buy old china, plates and glass and break them up, and using these pieces along with traditional mosaic tiles, gems and cabachons, I covering up flaws and try to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. It's like artistic upcycling!

I also enjoy putting a little whimsy and "surprise pieces" in my work, like seashells, coins and jewels to give each piece a one-of-a-kind artistic touch. I try to find and create items that have unique character. I usually work within a limited color scheme on each piece, so they appear more "planned out" – but at the same time, I often enjoy creating a "crazy quilt" style, mixing different kinds of tiles, mirrored glass, gems and broken pieces of china. Each mosaic is painstakingly designed and produced, as I polish it over and over again until the mosaics sparkle. Often I go around each tile with a toothpick to assure that the entire piece is shown through the grout.

Many of my mosaic creations take several days to produce, yet I try to keep my prices reasonable and affordable.

If you like something, but maybe it's not in the right color scheme, please contact me, because I may be able to do something similar as a custom project. People say they make wonderful gifts. If you're interested in a totally unique, beautiful and creative piece of art – whether it be a gift for a special occasion or for yourself – I hope you'll consider buying one of my Second Look Mosaics!

Thank you for visiting Second Look Mosaics. Although try to capture the beauty of each item as best I can through photography, many people remark that it looks "prettier in person." Once you receive your item, I hope it exceeds your expectations as well!

I try to find and create items that have unique character. I usually work within a limited color scheme on each piece, so they appear more "planned out" – but at the same time, I often enjoy creating a "crazy quilt" style, mixing different kinds of tiles, gems and broken pieces of china, and sometimes adding interesting things like coins, charms or seashells. Each mosaic is painstakingly designed and produced, from deciding on the design, applying the mosaics, grouting the piece, and then polishing it over and over again until the mosaics sparkle. Often I go around each tile with a toothpick to assure that the entire piece is shown through the grout.

Payment
I accept PayPal. You are able to use PayPal for debit or credit card payments even if you do not have a PayPal account. Just select the PayPal option that allows you to do this.

Please complete the PayPal payment at checkout. If the item is not paid within 24 hours through PayPal, I will need to place it back in my shop. Please convo me if you experience any problems with the transaction and I will try to assist you.

NJ residents will automatically have 7% sales tax added to their orders (on both the items and the shipping).
Shipping
All items will be securely wrapped in bubble-wrap to avoid breakage. I have tried to keep my shipping costs on the low side of an estimate. I will ship the most economical way that will include tracking and insurance. Please contact me within 3 days of receiving your item to notify me of any damage when it arrives. Please be sure to keep the box and all the packing materials as we will file an insurance claim.

The shipping costs apply to the contiguous United States only. AK and HI or INTERNATIONAL would be at an additional cost – please convo me if that is the case. I will need your zip code or additional info. in order to get you an accurate price. Also, if you need expedited shipping, please convo me and I will find out how much additional cost would be involved.

If you happen to live in the area, you are welcome to pick up the piece and avoid the shipping charges, so please convo me about that as well.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you decide to cancel your order before I have shipped it, I will be happy to offer a refund or exchange. However once the item has shipped, due to the one-of-a-kind nature of these items, all sales are final. Custom order sales are final and not refundable.

I do my very best to show and describe the item as close as possible. Colors sometimes look different on our monitors. Should you find that the item is not as pictured or described, please contact me, and I will do my best to work something out.
Additional policies and FAQs
Mosaics are very delicate items. A card will be enclosed that will explain how to care for them and where and where not it is best to display them to avoid breakage. Should a piece fall off – DON'T DISMAY! It is usually easy to Krazy glue it back into place yourself and apply a filler like Patch & Paint into the grout.

Also, due to the fact that I work on "second-hand" items, you may encounter some minor flaws that are part of the character of these vintage pieces. However, I do guarantee that items like clocks will be in working order when they arrive. Batteries are included to ensure this. If the clock is not working when it arrives, please notify me within 24 hours of receipt.

I welcome the opportunity to create a custom order. If you have something of sentimental value, like your grandmother's china, old coins, buttons, etc. that you would like to have created into a special mosaic piece, please contact me!

Again, I thank you and appreciate your support of my artistic creations.
